Actually it varies from place to place, though there are a lot of places that have rules set up that are similar. Those are usually the ones that specify certain mental illnesses as well as terminal illnesses. There's a place where I live that states you can only accept gifts on specific holidays or celebrations if you work there, but if it's any other time, they have to return the item(s) to the resident or at least the room or risk termination.

Classic example of how privilege affects criminal justice. They blew up the maid’s crib and drug her downtown, but they went and met the granddaughter on her time in between classes.
@finris1 Жыл бұрын
Not quite how you describe it. They first suspected the cause of death was violence during a home invasion --> questioned maid why she wasn't at the home, and maid answers that she was fired --> questioned granddaughter why she fired maid, and granddaughter answers that the maid was stealing --> search warrant for maid's place, revealing allegedly stolen property --> bring maid to station. Under the idea that she died during a home invasion, the maid was a more obvious suspect, and the allegedly stolen property created motive. It wasn't until they learned that the granddaughter had left instructions to restrict food/water intake and the ME declared the cause of death as starvation that they even began to suspect the granddaughter of anything. And even then, it was possible that the doctor was at fault as she was supposedly following his instructions.

When my Grandpa got dementia, one of the things he and my Grandma (his primary caretaker) would fight over frequently was food, bc he always seemed to be hungry, and my grandma was worried about him gaining too much weight (he used to be very obese, but then had a stroke, lost most of the weight, but then was diagnosed with dementia), and I told my grandma “At this point, the more food, the better. Bc it will get to a point where he won’t eat anymore. A little more weight now will actually help in the long run.” Plus the fighting over meals and snacks wasn’t worth the stress either.
