"I consider myself a third kid." That sums him and his crime perfectly. He considered his wife his mother who had to see to every need he had. Adult children are terrifying because they have the power of an adult and the mind and emotions of a child, so they're childishly selfish, fearful, demanding, and angry. Healthy adults learn to temper these tendencies with love, compassion, empathy, responsibility, mercy but not him.

This is my first time watching this testimony. You couldn't possibly be more correct. The difference was pronounced and instantaneous. It's like a switch was flipped. I don't think he did himself any favors with his hostile and aggressive demeanor towards the prosecution. It also seems to me that he wasn't sufficiently coached by his attorneys on how to behave under cross. Perhaps they, too, were painfully aware of his guilt and what he had done, and so didn't feel particularly motivated to help him out in this regard.

Yes! I actually found it pretty creepy to watch, because it reminded me a bit of how Hollywood often tries to portray "split personalities:" the way he would swivel his chair towards the jury and act polite, interested and caring...but then the second he swiveled *away* from the jury he'd suddenly switch to hostile, arrogant and derisive...it really totally was just like watching a switch being flipped! Also, I kept asking myself while watching his antics, "Does he not realize that the jury can still hear him even when he's facing away from them??" It was SO weird! Like, did he somehow think the jury wouldn't notice his entire attitude shift to rude and hostile, just because he wasn't looking at them? The whole spectacle was very creepy and odd to watch, for sure. You're certainly right that he was 100% unlikeable!

@@DS-hy6ld So true about being coached! I mean, the only times I ever had to take the stand in my life was during my divorce, and even then my lawyer still made a point of coaching me on not getting visibly irritated at the opposing council's questions, (no matter how rude or invasive they were) and not making any overly emotional displays in front of the judge, etc. And that was just a measly divorce case, not a triple homicide! Although, based on what I've seen of this guy, he seems arrogant enough to possibly think that he knows better than any lawyer, and I could totally see him ignoring his lawyer's coaching because he thinks he's just so brilliant and charismatic that the jury will love him.

Knowing he can't get all the (totally practiced) information that he wants them to know.. out!! When you see his interigation tape...he is not showing any emotion..of any kind at all!! He calmly explained how he killed the children!! This is a totally different storie!! 10 attempts to kill yourself...and you are still alive??? Not to mention all the " like i said before" and "as i already explained before" in his very arrogant way!! The coldness the swiftness in wich he answers the questions about the time he "found" his kids dead...like he wants to give the information quickly....by coming across "smart" ..yet forgets to show the emotions that go with that situation!! That he went to go get a phone that he lost/ left somewhere AFTER his familie was already dead!! Why..if you plan to kill yourself...would you go back to get your phone..unless you had no plan of killing yourself and there would be information on that phone that might tell a different story than the one you telling the police!! Amazing how he tries to wrap every answer up in a story...with a pretty bow on top!! This man is a stone cold killer and a manipulator!! @@jackiescorpio6359 I´m not talking about this case, but just in general.. I think it is pretty clear that this man is disturbed and probably guilty. But for example i had a lawyer once, i think he though i was guilty which i was not.. And he did a super sloppy job and i got sentenced to jail.. Also the prosecutor pretty much 100% knew i was innocent but still tried to frame me as a culprit because that was her job and she took pride in it.. In short i think the justice system is very broken and i hope it gets fixed.. (here in Europe we don´t even have juries. We have 3 degrees of court.. low court with 1 judge, higher court with 1 judge and 2 members of random political party and highest court, where you can´t even get a session cause it´s over booked and only for super important people and sessions). For example i got sentenced first by 1 judge. then made an appeal, then got sentenced by 1 judge and 2 political group members. Then made another appeal cause i was fitting the criteria to make that appeal, they still refused it because they were full. If there had been a jury and if my lawyer actually had tried to defend me in anyway i would most probably not have been sentenced.
@oneone8318

@@jackiescorpio6359 That´s very unfair. I don´t think people should be put to prison for shoplifting. In Europe people generally only get fined for shoplifting. I hope your son gets out soon and lives a happy and fulfilling life. I have also shoplifted in my teens, but luckily here it is not considered such a serious offense. Best of luck for you and your son. Gardening could be a good hobby for someone who has just got out of prison. I don´t know if it will interest your son, but it gives you peace of mind, something to do, and you get to eat food that you grew yourself.. Many plants can be grown indoors too, so you don´t even need a yard. Peppers can be ready in 2-3 months and need little care and are very easy and can be grown indoors. Maybe he might like to try that? It´s probably good to have a hobby to not go back to old habits. Good luck.

Without a doubt, hes very scary. The prosecutor nailed him and I bet the defender guy breathed a sigh of relief when they lost the case.

I cannot stop watching this guy's testimony and the redirect by prosecutors. He's so sure everyone is going to believe his story. He should've taken his counsel's advice and NOT taken the stand. He nailed his own coffin shut.

I’d be embarrassed to admit how many times I’ve watched this since the trial! This is one of those cases where the defence is so ridiculous that he must testify but he absolutely cannot testify. There is no way that they could leave his confession video to be the only time the jury heard from him in the trial. He had to testify and refute that evidence but he was going to kill himself on the stand even with a better attitude. He stood no chance at all, no matter how great his lawyers were and no matter what defence they went with, at getting anything less than life without parole. And had the prosecution actually gone for death like they originally intended, there is no doubt whatsoever he would’ve gotten it, after seeing his performance in court.

He keeps looking over at the jury thinking they’re agreeing with him that the prosecutor is being unreasonable. He’s the one being a psycho and incredibly argumentative

That was such an interesting feature of his behavior during cross. I'd like to know what kind of body language feedback the jury was giving him during the first half because during the last half he stopped wheeling around to look at them.

I noticed during the first part of cross, anytime he wiped his eyes, he turned towards the jury to do so. He wanted them to see that. He stopped looking over at them near the middle/end of the cross. He's sick!!! He's a murderer. He knows. Everyone in that room knows it. Only one person believes he's fooled everyone.

Defendants are typically instructed to look at the jury when giving answers. Maybe leave the psychologizing to the professionals lol
