Some people replying here forget or did't know that the father was the only person able to decide to take her home. Without clear proof of ongoing neglect, on one could override his decision. Neglect is difficult to prove with someone seeing them regularly or medical professionals seeing her. I saw one photo of the mother in younger years. She, too, appeared slightly developmentally delayed. Which might explain a stay at home mom, with only three kids, not keeping the house clean. Whth the father was a police officer, you would think he would insist upon having a clean house , if only out of the appearance of having an upstanding family.

The best they could? A washcloth with soap with adult diapers and clean sheets don’t take a fortune of money. To allow your parent to lay in their own feces with bones sticking out of a leg has nothing to do with money. Without money her physical therapy benefits won’t be good enough, without money no care is stellar, however thousands of people get sponge baths daily, have their adult diapers changed and are moved around to prevent the skin from breaking down to bone and infected ulcers. This family did not do the bare necessities of human decency, not because they don’t have the funds. They had her in layers of urine and feces, the worst that anybody has seen.

There's something wrong with the whole family. Even the daughter who didn't live there. She saw the conditions under which her mom existed. Even if the father was calling the shots, it was obvious that he wasn't capable of making sound decisions about his wife's care. 🤔 There are so many questions to be asked. How did her ankle get broken when she's been bedridden for a very long time? Was there some kind of "Misery" re-enactment? Was someone Annie? I'm not joking, as this lady was tortured, if only by neglect: No food, no hygiene upkeep, suspicious injuries, etc. What kind of relationship was there between the children and the mother when the kids were 2 - 21? They are both definitely mentally challenged in some way......but.......the daughter is cognizant enough to be affected by some of the autopsy pictures. Even if she's doing it for the camera. How can she be so affected, driven to tears by something that she saw every day, but didn't seek help. They knew enough to keep themselves nourished. They took baths, right? How did they pay their bills? Why didn't the other daughter seek adult protection services? The whole family is off.

Bear in mind, the husband had the ultimate say. This retired cop, who passed and was married to the victim, was more responsible than ANYONE else. IF a nurse was to visit, as many people have commented on multiple videos, I don't know the exact situation, but nurse, advanced practice nurses, nursing aids, ALL are mandated reporters. IF that healthcare person DID make visits, she needs to lose her license. Also, remember, people aren't going to just show up...they make appointments, unless there was an investigation-who would have started the investigation? If he took her from the nursing home because of money-he couldn't afford either the care, or the loss of her social security...so...the actual guilty/responsible party, died a few months AFTER her. Since we cannot find anything about this on Google, we may never hear what the actual story, chain of events were. We DO know her husband was ambulatory, opened the door for the police, EMT's. Sounds like responsible party is already dead. This feels like it will be overturned on appeal. These 2 belong in a group home environment. Edit: I am curious if these adult children received disability and the family couldn't afford to lose THOSE checks, either. I can't watch without knowing more-too frustrating.

They made a doctor cry… You know, I have medical professionals in my family. My sister has been a nurse practitioner for decades, her late husband was in the medical field, her current boyfriend is a doctor… I myself was a CNA in my younger days. You have to distance yourself from these situations to keep yourself sane. Hell, when the doctor had to come in and tell my sister her husband passed and my sister began to wail with grief (which was out of character for her), the doctor and staff remained stoic as did I. My reasons were different, it was because she needed my strength, not my tears. But medical staff, they’re that way to remain sane. If what they did to that poor woman was so heinous that it made a doctor cry, you KNOW it was beyond comprehension. Do I believe they’re developmentally delayed? No… They’re often coached by their attorneys as to how to dress, how to behave… just so they can appear how they need to in order to get off. It’s the little things you DON’T notice, like the brother face palming then giving his sister that side eyed glance. That was very telling as was the fact that the sister cried when they were describing the mom’s injuries. If she was so delayed, she wouldn’t have been able to comprehend how poor a state her mother was in even after the fact, but apparently she did… and was sorry she was going to rot in prison for it. People think they can get away with elder abuse for one excuse or another, feigning stupidity, lack of help or funds… But there are a ton of resources out there, many of them free. There’s no excuse for what happened here. In this day and age, you don’t get to be in your 40s and not understand that you need to clean up excrement. I’m sure if they had it on themselves that people told them they smelled, especially as children. It’s not as if they didn’t figure out it wasn’t right. And if you see the photo of the mom prior to all this, she didn’t look dirty and unkempt. This was sheer laziness and intentional neglect. That poor woman was robbed of her dignity and tortured. I’m glad they were found guilty. I just hope they pay an appropriate price.

This is such injustice to the whole family, Both of these defendants need care themselves, the local authority should be prosecuted not them, their middle sister has all of her faculties and wouldn't stay at her parents home due to the state of the place, she said that she told their father that the mum could move in with her and her husband, but the father refused, she could have made an anonymous phone call, I'm sorry but I feel she should have been held accountable too. This is the only trial I have ever watched and felt that the defendants shouldn't be sat there, let alone convicted of murder.

@@potheadzndrama267What about Medcaid? Or have the court appoint guardianship and make the decisions for her care. It's quite obvious they were not up to that task.

@@lornabow2111 I agree. I’m not the best to ask about medicate or any other health service like that. I’m not sure what’s available to ppl who can’t afford it. I often wonder why homeless seniors are homeless & not in a place that can care for them so I just assumed they don’t have the money for it. Idk if there’s some kind of state aid for situations like that.

@@potheadzndrama267 the middle sister testified that her father was stubborn and he made all the final decisions. She also agreed that they were taught not to question him from a young age. They would have lost there home had he not made the decision to take her from the nursing home after the 20 days.
