Prosecutors in Orlando, Florida say Sarah Boone intentionally zipped her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, into a suitcase and filmed on her phone as he begged for his life. Torres eventually suffocated. Boone has claimed she was a battered woman. It took the court more than five years to get to trial, after Boone’s attorneys withdrew again and again. The way Jorge died is the stuff of nightmares. I can't think of anything worse. I've had dreams where I'm trapped in a twisted hunk of metal (a wrecked car, presumably) and I'm stuck in an awkward position where I can't move an inch or even get a full breath. Even if the zip was open an inch, there’s no way for Jorge to get his hands over to the opening and have enough leverage to get the zip open. I know he was petite, but even a small person like him would take up the entire space inside that suitcase. His head would’ve been curled down towards his chest, his arms would’ve been tucked in and wouldn’t have been able to move from their position. Not to mention, he’d also been flipped over so he was now face down. All of his weight would have been pressing down onto his arms with no way for him to push back off the floor. She was cruel and evil in what she did to him.

I've been catching up on the Sarah Boone trial, and ever since her vile sentencing statement, I’ve been struck by how deeply unsettling her behavior is. The more I watch, the more convinced I am that she might be the most calculated and evil murderer I've ever followed on KZbin. Her ability to constantly shift her narrative, especially while on the stand, is nothing short of mind-boggling. It’s as though she truly believed these changes would work in her favor, despite all evidence to the contrary. If she had just told the truth from the start, likely that she passed out after the horrific suitcase incident, and shown genuine remorse instead of displaying sociopathic behavior completely devoid of any emotion, things might have turned out differently for her. But instead, her chilling lack of accountability and manipulative tendencies only solidified the jury’s view of her. It’s a stark reminder of how critical honesty and empathy are, even in the most damning circumstances. Watching her trial unfold feels like a case study in pure evil, wrapped in denial and arrogance.
