I was in my later teens during the end of the, 60s and early70s. !y preference at parties was girly type drinks. However, I went to a friends house and stupidly he had a friend who came over with some mushroom tea. It was the first and LAST time I ever had anything like it. As soon as it hit me I thought everyone around me was evil and saw them that way. I remember I went home and crawled under the covers until morning. It was awful. Listening to what Carlie was saying and how she was acting, it brought back this memory that I had so long tried to put out of my mind. It sounded EXACTLY like me that night. I definitely believe she was on a psychedelic and not meth.

It costs a lot of money to go to the ER in the U.S., even with insurance. This wouldn't be the first time a teen took a drug and was delusional/hallucinating. It would be totally normal for a parent to assume it would wear off with a night of sleep. Someone on drugs or very drunk might say a lot of things. That doesn't mean you would just do what they say.

This case reminded me of a coworker at my old job about 10 years ago who had a mental episode. It was scary but I remember the one thing that stuck with me was how dilated his pupils were. He didn't make any sense and had extreme paranoia and anxiety, I thought he was on drugs. On the way to the hospital he even tried to escape the ambulance making it onto the highway. He eventually go help but never came back to work It turned out he had a severe mental condition that ran in his family.

You don't think of taking a child to the hospital for the sake of their personal reputation concerning drugs. I believe they truly felt she was going to be fine. They knew she was safe, never thinking she would walk out the front door. I heard a kind voice from her step mom talking with her on the recording. We never know the danger of a situation until something happens. The step mom was probably exhausted. They were up late dealing with a lot plus have two smaller children. My heart goes out to all in this story. All parents are dealing with a society of issues that our world has never had so much stimulation & illegal drugs & teen life is so much more complicated this days than ever before.

@kaylee this is definitely a psychedelic "bad trip" and it wasn't *just* mary jane that they smoked. Large pupils are an indication of using stimulants or psychedelics. No different than a psychotic episode of mania and paranoia. It could have been one of those new analogs that they use nowadays or perhaps that "spice" crap...synthetic mary jane or whatever they call it. I have a feeling someone kidnapped her when she was all alone, staring at the stars. A creeper probably asked her if she needed help, she said yes and that was it.
@DakotaLily
@DakotaLily 11 ай бұрын
Oof - this makes me so sad - soooo true - yes - dilated pupils is very much a psychedelic response. And yes - Xanax would have stopped the trio and allowed her to sleep it off instead of her running off into the desert. So sad. 😑. It seems unlikely this is from smoking weed. Especially so prolonged. Her panic is eerie. I hate that some are blaming the parents. They stayed with her and clearly thought they were keeping watch over her. She left/escaped. Even just an accidental accidnet with a vehicle is a possibility of she was walking and running erratically down a major highway in the early morning. Sadly I don’t think this girl is going to be found. Also - eerie how people even in right or wrong states of mind- know when the end is coming.

She really needed professional help at the time she called her step mother to pick her up. She should’ve been heavily monitored until psychotic symptoms, such as hallucinations or delusional thoughts had completely resolved. Why wouldn’t you call 911 the second your daughter even mentions calling 911 if something were to happen. Isn’t that a clear sign something is already happening? If my daughter mentioned having demonic thoughts, strong emotional mood swings, asking not to be alone, restlessness…. Personally I would not be able to sleep.

The risk of psychosis and other mental illnesses being brought about early or at all by cannabis use needs to be discussed more. A big risk factor is a history of mental illness in the family.

The police said they believe my friend's daughter died of an overdose. At first they said case closed but after a big stink, they said they are going to wait for tips. She was bones when she was discovered. Her name was Chelsea Poorman from Saskatoon Saskatchewan. She died visiting her sister in Vancouver. from personal experience and being a small girl around 110 lbs and a habitual pot smoker since the age of 16. i also have mental issues, severe generalized anxiety and depression and a few others, once your body is used to THC you usually don’t have any issues, however if you’ve gone weeks without it and you have none leftover in your system, a bong hit is an instant shock to my mental state. i’m had my fair share of delusions and panic attacks triggered from smoking more than my body could handle after a T break. she was probably used to hitting a bong and didn’t consider how long her body has been withdrawing from it. any underlying mental issues could’ve greatly worsened the situation.

Perhaps if she decided to smoke K9, that synthetic weed.. Now that is a whole new beast compared to real mary jane... I am an experienced user for psychedelics, and I was almost put in the dirt smoking that K9 from a bong.. It will feel like a bad tripp, until it wears off an hour later, and in that hour, your heart rate will be so pronounced that you will see your chest moving with the beats. Based on the descriptions of how she was acting though, and the length of time she was in her mental state... I would deduce that she was on acid.

Omg poor girl. I recently went through this. It was a gummy that gave me a horrible horrible trip!! I felt lost in my own head and couldn’t explain what I was going through at the moment but I really felt like I going to die and couldn’t stop shaking and crying. I really wanted to go to the hospital but my husband was scared to take me and just did what he could to keep me calm but after a few hours I finally came down but it took me a whole day to feel like myself again. It was horrendous and I will never ever ever have anything to do with THC again. After talking to my dr and research it wouldn’t been serotonin syndrome due to my anti depressants I was also taking. Dr said I should’ve been taken to ER immediately because it some rare cases it could be fatal. Husband feels bad now but I get it, we were both scared and he thought it was just a bad high but I wouldn’t wish that feeling on my worst enemy. 😭😭😭

She went from distraught mode to being distracted easily with the attention she was getting. A very odd switch in mood. She didn't describe very well how the girl was dressed the last time she saw her, but instead described her as "adorably cute" and having "a cute little nose and a great smile"? It is possible that she did have a marijuana psychosis! New years day 2015, about 2 am, my son had been out smoking weed all new year's eve. He came home talking crazy and his wife called me scared so I went over about 8 pm. When I got there it was obvious something was dreadfully wrong. He never assaulted her or me but he took her cell phone from her and twisted it in half. At that point I called 911. The police and paramedics came and were so gentle with him. They handcuffed him and took him to the hospital. He was in the mental ward for 1 week. The doctor said the only thing in his system was marijuana and he had so much in his system that it was a marijuana psychosis. They had to give him an anti-psychotic drug to bring his mind back! The doctor said if he never smoked again, his brain would recover. However the next year he smoked it again and he has not recovered! His entire personality is different! Where he was kind and gentle and generous, now he is mean and entitled! And crazy! And they want to legalize marijuana! That is a crime against humanity! Karli's experience sounds just like my son's! A marijuana psychosis!

There's people that can't handle weed and not all weed is the same and the party she was originally at with the weed could have had more than one type of weed or some of it was laced. But it's not likely someone is up all night and sneaks out at 5:30 deliberately leaving the cell phone behind and not even cold enough to take a coat. Sounds like meth, it conquers the heat and cold, and she wanted her next fix so bad that she was making sure nobody could stop her by tracing the phone to some drug lords gangster place. They may have kept they young beauty addicted on purpose, one of the gang lives nearby, and the mind is going to want more drugs not tell the truth about what's really going on.

After seeing that the father was arrested for possibly breaking his wife's shoulder, I'm far more willing to believe he possibly did something to her. You know who could have picked Karlie up at the bus stop that morning, based on the timeline? Melissa or Zach. It's very possible that they could have been very angry she left while they were asleep, who would really know.

She had a psychotic episode. A person's brain is not fully developed at age 16 and not able to handle certain substances that they use at this age, and there's no telling how often this happens. She should've been taken to the hospital at some point.

It definitely sounds like some significant break with reality. She may have gotten into a situation where her obvious vulnerability or distressed state was taken advantage of in a foul play situation.

Side note - I highly doubt you took a walk “all around the yard and through the neighborhood” while talking on a cordless *landline* phone.
