It is definitely not rising. People just got away with it more, and it couldn’t be publicized as far and wide when it did happen. Use your critical thinking skills. You really think that back when freak accidents were more prevalent, people were more likely to die from a stomach ailment, and spousal abuse was not a crime, murdering your partner was LESS prevalent? Back when it was shameful to divorce, and so many people just tried to move towns and engage in bigamy? Back when it was so much more difficult to prevent pregnancy, and women were property? No.
