He's believed to have administered the lethal dose that killed River Phoenix and a suspect in a missing person (his ex business partner). He was being sued by him for embezzling money from their nightclub which he lost and had to pay the missing man's daughter lots of money. Those things aside, he seems to be the victim in this case. @@WhatzNext-TV I see where you're coming from, but careful when generalizing. Yes, men can be victims too, and I'm glad the world is finally becoming more aware of this, but let's not fall into the opposite fallacy now. "Women are manipulative". @@jmanuelforero3850 __ The purpose (I think) for this portion of the testimony is to show that his ability to work was affected by a smear campaign; his lawyer allowed him to go beyond simply saying "I lost my job." The questions, and Johnny's answers reveal his great love of music (evident in Chocolate). His answers then reveal powers of observation: of his children (how children learn and develop); the answers show his love for his children; they show a circumspect man, who wanted Jack Sparrow, instead of being just a flamboyant romantic adventurer, to be a character who reveals his human layers, through his bumbling, through humour and through PAUSES. When he is spoken to, he is on "pause": he LISTENS with laser focus; he answers with thought, with truth, with gentle protest, and with nuances that expose layers of thought. He pays attention; then he makes the other pay attention. Some refer to a slowness in his speech: but, notice also how quickly come qualifying responses to the questions of opposing council; there is nothing slow about his mind. The time he takes when speaking, one can see he is thinking, searching for how to say what he truly means; his pace gives time for words to sink in. This man sees more than the surface in others. This man reveals more than his own surface. I'm kind of stunned, that he is the kind of musician who preferred to not be in the spot, because he wanted to shield his complexity, shield the complexity of music, and yet ended up in a job where complexity (layers) are often swept away. I see why he "needed" to insist on giving to Jack Sparrow a "Depp'th" beyond the "flamboyant romantic adventurer". I see too why the character is so beloved: he is human. I hope this suffering, his own, and that of his former, can soon end. I hope they each go on to do work they care about.

It is mind blowing how he is so humble and kind. Even after so many years in the spotlight he remembers exactly what he was paid per week in the beginning of his career. It is so sad that he has had to endure the nightmares in his life. Once this one is behind him I hope he is able to finally find happiness with someone that will truly love and care for him.

If it wasn't for Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean would have never been that great success. Johnny rewrote the script and developed the character of Jack Sparrow and others in Pirates.. he's not only an actor, he's a dedicated artist in whatever he does.. and he is still warm-hearted, sweet and humble. I was honestly wondering why any of this, besides dealing with his mother, was part of this. Now your comment made me wonder if the next suit is Jonny having evidence that he did in fact create Jack Sparrow as we know Jack Sparrow, and it is part of him in a way. Hmmm? Not only that but it was a part that he played that truly people will not let him out of. It could even be argued the part "he created" is so much so how he is identified there really is more legal parts of this to look at.

The tragedy of this situation is that he especially protected his privacy previously. I liked him from when he was with Kate Moss and they were v private, as he was with the Mother of his children etc. He just doesn’t deserve this or to go thru this. He obv has that muso character, with generously supporting other artists and friends. Always felt it was his ‘character’ that fell for the young Heard in Rum Diaries…. I feel almost privileged to hear him talk to us about his career and early life as an actor. He is clearly a very private man who is introverted but, as someone who has obviously grown up like many people (not wealthy, with not great parents) he knows the gift and security he offers his kids now. He has acknowledged he has sacrificed a lot of his personal privacy for his career, and weighed up the benefits so lives with the small downsides. Just because he has said "I have nothing to complain about" which is very humble and I am very glad he has said so, it doesn't make him perfect, but the fact that he says that and yet all he wants to do is protect the privacy of his kids who had no choice over the matter? That's what shows his character. Perfect he is not, but I struggle so hard to believe a man like that, who behaves much like my own father, would raise his hand to a woman, and even if he has said awful things to his friends in anger, does NOT mean he deserves to suffer over AH's trumped up charges. Justice for Johnny.
