So....uhhhh... funny story. I got diagnosed as schizophrenic. Turned out it was type 1 diabetes that was untreated. I don't see things hardly ever thanks to insuin 😲 I only do once I get over 400 on my test meter, and when I have stayed high for hours.

It was probably 99% because they didn't want to hear his BS. But he also hadn't be read his rights and officers will often tell a suspect to shutup until they're read their rights. Once a suspect starts talking they may reveal some confession and back in 2018 if they hadn't been read rights yet then the confession couldn't be used in court. Recently this has changed though where officers no longer have to read your rights, its up to a citizen to know them or ask for them to be explained.

The officer just squatting down, picking a blade of grass and pulling it apart is something that I will always remember about this. It is so comforting.. almost self-soothing amidst what had just happened that day. I can't speak for him, but I can imagine that officer was feeling some incredible emotions. That grass-picking part is so relatable. So human. I can't explain it. I just feel like that officer wanted to understand.. with all his heart.. why the heck someone would do such a thing. I remember seeing this footage quite a while ago, but that has always stuck with me.

i forget how long it took the police to actually get him but as for every person, they receive a trial. when Nikolas was to receive his trial, courts were closing off because the pandemic was starting to make its way into the US. they didnt want to take chances. However, his court trials and videos are all on KZbin and he has pled Guilty to 17 counts of murder and like 18 counts of attempted murder. Jury is deciding on whether or not he takes life in prison or death penalty.

Anyone who does such a thing is crazt, but definitely not legally insane. It would be insane to accept such a plea. In FL especially, you have to show that you were unaware of your actions in any way. This was well planned for god's sake, he even had a pretty clever escape plan (I saw a movie where the perps escaped by blending with the hostages upon release).

I think he did it for fun, and didn't think he would get caught. Someone actually mentally ill would have done a way better acting job. I don't entirely understand it, but I have observed the phenomenon innumerable times during the course of my life because there are a lot of insane and disturbed people wandering the streets in cities these days.

I am amazed at how calm, cool and collected these cops were. They were making sure he would have no reason to have any complaints of his treatment. Good cops, like these, will want to have cameras on the scene whether it is theirs' or a citizen's. I don't understand why so many cops mistreat auditors...their film could be the very evidence to clear their name of any wrongdoing.

A lot of people don’t note the restraint the officers in these situations show. You know that all of them knew what he’d done, and I’m sure some of them wanted to end him right there. It seems like the kind of thing where someone is thinking “just give me a reason” so they can retaliate. But not acting upon that shows amazing restraint. Most people are inclined to be angry and violent, but that restraint really does mean something

Hearing him cry made me so sick to my stomach. He got caught and that’s why he’s crying. Not because he murdered those dear children and teachers. No remorse for what he just did, he’s just a coward and I’m so glad he was arrested. And to think he is still able to breathe is horrible. He will get his due when he stands before God. That’s the only comfort I hope the families of the victims try to remember. He will one day pay! ☮️✝️

My husband *actually* hears voices, they are the worst at night. He’ll get scared and I’ll wake up with the bedroom door closed which I think is adorable. He always has to get up and make his rounds to ensure there’s nobody breaking in. I realize of course that this is not everyone’s experience, but his main thing is protecting us. Just wanted to put that out there that people with schizophrenia and/or psychotic symptoms are just normal people, usually the voices can be random words or your name being called, etc. Even if you do have violent voices, that doesn’t mean we just say “oh ok!” and do whatever it says.

I have a few mental issues myself. Aspergers, PTSD, Bipolar disorder, Schizoeffective disorder, etc. I actually have to take a bunch of medicine to keep my delusions and paranoia under control. If those two things aren't controlled, I become a violent and combative person out of fear and stress. I HATE when people try to act mentally unstable when they aren't. It's insulting to those who actually do have mental issues.

My great-uncle had intermittent schizophrenia (basically he would have episodes, they could disappear for long stretches of time, then appear again). He could be a little loopy at times, but he was medicated and a gentle soul. Liver cancer is what did him in. Seeing this psychopath pretend to be crazy just to try to get an insanity plea is disgusting.
