For example: You think there was an active shooter there because that's what _They_ *want* you to think. It’s totally insane that she says InfoWars producers don’t have a duty to verify their guests or fact check any reporting. I’ve done several interviews and afterwards the magazine fact checkers called and grilled me to verify everything I said, even though they were pretty inconsequential things to lie about. They even read out direct quotes and asked if I had said them. This is like Reporting 101 - you fact check your info and don’t publish ANYTHING that you don’t get from a verified source on the record. InfoWars and other publications like them literally don’t care to fact check…or don’t want to because they are afraid of what they might find out. If they don’t ask then when they get dragged into court they can say they had no idea their source was a complete liar… 🤥

You probably worked for an actual journalistic organization. When you talk about conservative media you’re talking about opinion shows. That’s including Fox News the biggest opinion show of them all. Fox’s legal defense in law suits is literally “hey, we’re not actual news… we trust our audience to be smart enough to know that we’re reporting opinions and lies.” I’m being dead serious. Unfortunately, Conservatives don’t want real news… they just want media outlets that echo what they wanna believe and that’s the sad truth.
@DG-wu7ke2 жыл бұрын
The difference between your fact checkers and info wars fact checkers is professional integrity. If you hire buffoon yes men as fact checkers you get exactly what you want. The problem is there are facts period, end of story. There are no alternative facts. Those dont exsist. Alternative facts by definition are altered from fact. Her job was to have guests that (beleaved) in alternative facts to aid the direction of alternative facts as true facts. Facts are just that facts but alternative facts are b/s by definition. The issue is when dealing with falsehoods as factual material they have defaned the holders of facts like burying their dead child and not an alternative dead child.

It’s so weird. I live virtually online due to disability and I have unfriended at least three people who otherwise behave as rational, caring adults with other members in our disability community. I unfriended them because when I challenged a rare political comment or post by them, which was factually incorrect, they referred me to Infowars and basically said they would not engage with me. They believed if I just watched Infowars, I’d would be as woke as they were. Based on most of their comments you’d never know that they believe the insanity on the right as pushed by people like Alex Jones. Blows my mind just to think about it. Have other friends who consider themselves all 60s peace and love and they were posting about Pizzagate and other outrageous misinformation, totally convinced it was true. And then, a very intelligent woman, who had been a long-time Facebook a friend, was posting cryptic comments related to the Q conspiracy meant for only those in the know. (I’d stumbled into the first Q posts because of her and so knew what those cryptic comments were referring.) Whenever I tried to challenge her, she and friends would essentially engage in self-congratulatory written smirks (as you can imagine how that would be communicated) and pile on comments about how naive I was. Decided she was completely out of reach and unfriended her. It’s been so weird to see this happen to people over the last 7 years. It’s been like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I think the research shows that people who buy into so many of the right-wing conspiracies have similar personality traits from paranoia to narcissism. Intelligent people seem more likely to be drawn into conspiracy theories.

For those interested, they are frequently referring to "Wolfgang Halbig", a liar / con-artist that was Alex Jones' sidekick in all of this. Lenny Pozner, whose son died in the Sandy Hook shooting, wrote Wolfgang Halbig, asking to speak to him, hoping to talk sense into him. One of Jones'/Wolfgang's collaborators replied stating “Wolfgang does not wish to speak with you *unless you exhume Noah’s body and prove to the world you lost your son.”* At 1:08:32 the attorney reads a letter from Wolfgang Halbig to *the mother of an autistic child,* where Wolfgang labels the mother as a terrible person that was essentially the true cause of her daughter's death. *This gives you an idea of just how batsh!t crazy these people truly are.*
