My riding lawn mower, hedge trimmer, weed wacker, 4 wheeler and chain saw are all red! Now that's a heavy duty aerator! I like how the wheels make it mobile.

Nice video thinking of building a bigger one that is water tight for a clay cattle pasture.

I am sure it could.

Unless it's removing soil from the hole, you're actually compacting the soil further. What you've build is a smaller version of the compactors they use to prepare roadbeds.

It still allows for deeper root development in heavier soils like clay obviously hollow tubes work better but this still allows areas to fill in with organic material and allow deeper root development. As long as the spikes are long enough within reason I do not see why this would not work.

Dr. Mica Woods at the Asian Turfgrass Center referenced a two year in the Fraser river valley that showed you are incorrect, the gross density of the soil does not change in any measurable way from core aeration and the study suggested it is not worth doing. Many golf courses and sports field managers only do solid tine aeration for the added reason not bringing soil to the surface does not allow weed seeds to surface.

A Compactor-Aeretor? It seems to me that most of the surface actually compacts the ground and only a small portion actually digs into the ground. Isn’t?
@ThoenWorks4 жыл бұрын
Let's do a thought experiment. If someone were laying on the ground and this machine rolled across, would the major concern be the compaction or the aeration.. 🙄.
