Don’t forget the pilot jet inside the center tube. Sometimes has a small screen over it and you should clean its holes as well.

At 8:07 looks like your gasket slipped off the shield plate in the back while you were screwing it in. Was it running OK or surging? Thx for video.
@bbbjim1fixedit4 жыл бұрын
good catch, I did have to put the gasket back on yet that was done off camera. Glad to hear you liked the video and I wish you the best on fixing your Lawn Boy.

If your mower won't start after checking for spark and cleaning the carb, it could be your crankcase seals.

My 10515 lost 3rd gear and is losing 2nd, with a rhythmic grinding preceding loss of gear. It still runs fine in first, but shifting is a bit stiff. I figure this is either a slipping pinion gear (in the trans, not the wheels) or shift keys, any idea which is more common or more likely? What are the most common and likely failures in the Lawn Boy 3 speed gearbox? I had the cover off and the ring gear looked good, I should have taken it out to look at the pinion while I was there, but regret assuming that the good looking ring gear meant the pinion must be good as well.

4 years later... Maybe try greasing the transmission? My 3 speed worked in all three gears but was very hard to shift. I just turned the mower over, took off the transmission belly pan, cleaned whatever grease I could, and applied new EP grease. works great now.
@alan68324 ай бұрын
@@matt7084 It was a worn out output shaft bushing allowing the gear shafts to move away from each other and slip. I replaced it and greased. It works now but still a bit hard to shift.

I hope you put oil on that air filter if you don’t you might as well not have a filter at all

What kind of oil?……filter

Any oil you put it on the air filter to help catch any particles

what about the throttle spring? I see you didn't clip it on the lever.
@bbbjim1fixedit5 жыл бұрын
good question. this carburetor uses a spring that is integrated into that blade like fin that is inserted up by the flywheel. the flywheel fan air pushes the throttle closed if the rpms get too high.

I must be missing something where does that spring attach, pretty good teaching
@mikemorgan50153 жыл бұрын
@@amandaadkins5304 It attaches to the arm on the plastic thingy that slides on the metal rod on top of the air box. It was brought up because they can be a pain in the behind to get back on if you've never done it before. Depending on the model, it can be tricky, as the air vane is difficult to get up into the shroud with the air box attached. Since the plastic slidy thingy is on the air box...... yeah.

you may wish to pull the spark plug and ensure your piston moves. If not you may have a broken connecting rod. I wish you the best on your repair

the main thing that needs to be cleaned would be the carburetor jets (those small holes) but they are hard to get to without removing the carburetor. I wish you the best on your repair
@Earthy05 жыл бұрын
Next time you may want to clean the outside of the carb before you take it off. That way there is less chance of getting more dirt into the carb.
