Hi Doc, Greetings from the sunny growing season of South Africa:) I have common Bermuda grass - how should I use chemical fertilizers with organic liquid fertilizers(Kelp & fish emulsion) on my lawn? I have put down a nitrogen rich fertilizer a week ago, when can I put an application of organic fertilizer? may I use them both at the same time? Also which is the best method for distributing the liquid fertilizer between a knap sack sprayer or a hose end sprayer that is calibrated?

I'm a fan of spoon feeding and keeping nitrogen inputs to a minimum but KBG Midnight which I have 15k square feet of (monostrand) thrives at 3 to 5 pounds per thousand annually. I've actually heard some places recommended 6. I have not noticed much difference between 6 and 3 though and I keep lowering my inputs to see how low I can go. Good thing with KBG midnight is it takes low inputs to maintain a dark color and it's a compact variety meaning if you let it go it wont get too tall. Less N just makes it grow slower and I just push it when I need it...but I'm not sure I can go as low as you recommend but I'll sure try. Awesome video.

Reduce your slow release to 3lbs per year and apply SJ every 2 weeks. If you need additional iron add some as well. Wait 4 hours after spraying then water lawn if you have irrigation. What ever has not been absorbed via foliar will now be at the roots. If nothing else... do a test strip or area.

Use the Dimension spray link on the website. It has pre and post killing qualities.
@cornelliacob15885 жыл бұрын
Ernie, I would be surprised if you actually have crabgrass this time of year - it requires soil temps of 55+ to start growing. You’re more likely to have a winter weed (poa/bluegrass, etc) which at this point you may as well let the heat kill off vs fighting with. Pre-emergent is highly recommended but it’s for the summer weeds that are yet to come. Apply it now to control those.

Hi Doc. Thanks for the very informative videos. Could you provide some clarification on the new small particle fertilizer you are working on assuming with The Andersons? One of the big benefits of super juice is that it has a 7-1-2 ratio which is supported and suggested by the experts. What is the benefit of changing the ratio to 18-0-2 in the new product especially when The Andersons 7-1-2 Innova Organic Fertilizer matches the super juice ratio? Thanks in advance.

My first viewing of your work. Love it. Nicely done Doc.....you have a good deep knowledge thanks for sharing, and I appreciate the straight forward delivery as well. Definitely dig it. You echo my exact sentiments on what you are looking for in a granular fertilizer. I agree on every count and have also been a bit frustrated or perplexed by not being able to find a decent, not too high N count NON-weed and feed when going to a box store. There is a product out there that contains a modest N count on most of there product as well as humates and iron since day one before the current trends, and that’s Johnathan Green products. They have been doing it right for a long time now...a bit pricey but hey....Anyway thanks again, you got another subscriber.

@@HowTowithDoc What all about the straining, cheese cloth and what ever else there was.
@HowTowithDoc5 жыл бұрын
After you mix, you run through a strainer. But you do this with anything you spray. I do it even with pre-mixed products as they settle. Put in warm water, stir, strain, done. You can also add any other spray treatments which is handy. Pesticide, fungicide, pre-emergent, etc, etc.

(I'm not sharing your secret, the others will just have to watch the entire video).

Thanks Doc. Got a question that hopefully you or someone can help with. You keep talking about using organic fertilizer and then hitting it with super juice. Is the big box weed and feed fertilizer like Scott’s ok to use with super juice? Sorry if this is a dumb question. This is the first year of using your program and don’t want to do any damage to my lawn
@HowTowithDoc5 жыл бұрын
If it's a slow release fert then yes, using the SJ is fine with it.

Great video. Most of it was over my head but I like to learn about this stuff as I'm just now getting into taking better care of my lawn. I do have a question. I'm thinking about putting down Milorganite early spring (mid to late March) and I see on a 36lbs bag it says it covers 2500sqft. But, just below that it says FL 6,000 sqft. Does this mean because I live in Florida I can stretch it out to 6,000 sqft? We have a 90,000 sqft lawn so if we went with 2500 sqft option it would take many more bags. Thanks again!

It's a local restriction more than likely due to the high phosphorus. Each state can have different laws and different times allowed.

Thanks for the info Doc! Love watching this channel. Got my first bermuda lawn over in Houston Tx.. Moved here from Lafayette, La and always had st augustine. Any ideas on a treatment to kill it and not the bermuda without having to hand pull it?
@cornelliacob15885 жыл бұрын
Scott Doucet one way to kill off st Augustine is to fertilize your Bermuda on the high end of the spectrum. St Augustine can’t handle all that. Plus, once your Bermuda takes off it’ll be the St Aug who’ll have to worry about being invaded. 😝

Great video. Quick question that is somewhat related, I use Milo for all of my fert applications during the growing season. But would it be best to apply a starter fertilizer the first app on Spring and a 2nd app to continue with Milo?? Or go with say 1lb 1k/sqft of Milo or Ringer? I have 3800 sq/ft of Bermuda tif419. Thanks!
@HowTowithDoc5 жыл бұрын
Apply the Milo as normal and apply SJ when you have the "windows" open up early in the spring. No need for "starter" on established Bermuda.

Vivian Gerard Doc’s channel and the information in it are geared towards Bermudagrass (warm weather grass popular in the south). You most likely have a cool-season grass. Either way, greening up grass is done with new growth .. so once snow melts feed it well, it’ll be hungry coming out of dormancy. And mow the yellowness off :)

Great video. I'm assuming you're going to The Anderson's again for this new product and my question is why are you afraid to say who's doing the packaging. For example, it's as clear as day on Amazon that The Anderson's packages your Super Juice but, to my knowledge, you never say it. Seems like the name recognition would help with sales. At first it came across as something sneaky but now I'm thinking that it might be a legal thing. For the record, I'm pleased to hear that you are not a Nitrogen Hawk like a lot of folks on the Tube.
