Thanks Doc for all your videos, advice and products. I have lived here in SC at my current home for twenty years and my yard looks better than it ever has looked. My soil also is much richer and weeds are almost non existent. The new PGF Balance sounds like a great product. Keep up the good work.

You may wish to investigate calcitic limestone applications vs. dolomitic limestone applications. Calcitic lime generally works much faster (in as little as two weeks) compared to the several months (or more) for dolomite. My product of choice is Solu-Cal.

Hi Doc. Just wanted to give you some feedback. Just had a new house built a couple of months ago. They put down new sod. After the 10 days watering requirement, I asked you what I should put down to help the new sod. You recommended Anderson PGF Complete with humid for feeding the roots. I did that and after 4 weeks, I put down another round of PGF. We had a few days of good rain and I must say my lawn looks great! Thanks for the advice!

Yep... keep it simple with new sod.

Soil test says ph 5.4; P and K high. I have warm season grass: zoysia, St Augustine and some Bermuda. Calcium also too high. As a result I added 120 lbs lime over 12000 sq ft before the rains started. When do you recommend more lime and is pelletized lime OK? I am also thinking I should only use fertilizer with Nitrogen and iron. I have sandy loam soil and my grass is dark green and good root system. I mow frequently using 36 in zero turn and the McLane 25 in reel mower. Sometimes I bag and use clippings on flower garden.

Excellent information, Doc. My apologies since you didn’t ask to be corrected. 😊 If I recall from my general chemistry classes nearly 40 years ago, cation is pronounced cat-eye-Ahn. Or the positive ion exchange ( as opposed to the anion (ann-eye-ahn) or negative ions. Not trying to be a smarty britches. Just one of the few things I remember. You can take my information and $6 and get a cup of coffee at lotsabucks. 😊

Thanks for the info Doc. Got my first soil test back this week from Virginia Tech. I’ll be using PGF complete on my front lawn based on the recommendation. However, says to use a 2-0-1 or a 3-0-1 out back. Will the regular PGF with Humic DG 16-0-8 get me there?

Doc, does it make sense to do soil / PH adjustments when you aerate? This would get immediate deep penetration.

Hope you put out a video using the liquid lime with the hose end sprayer. My front yard with Bermuda ph is 5.3 and back with tall fescue is 5.4. Nice to know I dont have to wait 2 months to put the liquid out.

I sprayed some yesterday. Dilute 50/50 with water. It's pretty thick. Spray and then rinse off blades.

Doc, I’ve searched all your videos and 2020 chart, can’t find my answer, I scalped my yard, I have pgf complete and humichar, I have 5 days of rain coming in in 2 days, when do I mow after putting down pgf complete and humichar? When rain stops?
@HowTowithDoc4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... depends. If you have a reel any time. I might wait if you have a rotary.

Is your garden soil 100% humichar and the chicken feed or do you mix in some of the actual soil that is already in the garden? What is the ratio in the case of the former?

Doc. What do you think of liquid carbon? I received a product from a friend to restore my lawns tilth. I've had major plumbing done that destroyed my lawn and compacted my soil. This was a few years ago. Now im in process of restoring my lawn.

Hey Doc! I just had my soil tested. My Georgia clay's pH was 7.7/7.8 (front/back). I have been using the humichar and PGF Complete. Should I do anything to lower it or am I ok with that? Thanks!

You can put a little sulfur every 30 days... the do heavy treatment in the winter.
@johnfetter32524 жыл бұрын
Lowes sells granular sulfur in 50 lb bags. I put about 300 lbs this past January and Feb (19k sq ft lawn). . Went from a pH of 8.4 to a pH of 7.5. Measure it with a pH meter. You can also use and ammonium sulfate based fertilizer as well. But Sulfur in the winter works great.

Just got my soil test back and my Phosphorus is very low. Clemson recommended 3 pounds of triple superphosphate (0-46-0) per thousand feet in the spring. I found some on Amazon in granular and I also saw your video about the Miracle Grow. Can I apply one of these now here in Georgia? And which one would you suggest using, granular or liquid? Thanks
@HowTowithDoc4 жыл бұрын
Put some down little by little . You could also do a treatment of the new BALANCE we have coming out soon. Maybe 3 weeks.

I read that adding organic material will introduce more phosphorus to your soil. My lawn is very high in phosphorus so obviously I am concerned. Is there any truth to this and if so is it enough to worry about? Thank you.
