Be consistent, reliable, quality, and don't be afraid to ask for the money. Pick up when you get the call. Make connections with people and simply show up on time. Make a friendship first through clear communication, and then you can find solutions to your client's needs. Treat everything like it's your own. Try to understand rather than be "right, " or else you lose a long-term client and reputation. Consider each mistake a learning opportunity.

@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess thanks for the reply! Was it easy when you started out? did you get customers by door to door?

When I started I did door to door postcards, a website, and a free Google places business listing. The Google places is gold. Make sure you get on that. There is work available everywhere if your willing to look. Thanks for watching.

In this business, especially in Canada you have to make as much as you can in a day as our season is so short. As long as you have your mindset your daily income can be what you want it to be. Good video Juilo,.

Keep a dense route and 700 dollar days can be quite common
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess5 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree. As I mentioned in the video, I can be at that $500 point by 2pm, and will call it a day if I had to pick up my kids from school or take them to some after school activity. But still plenty of time to work a 2-3 more hours or even into the evening if desired and earn much more. Thanks for watching.

Do you bag the grass or mulch it?? Txs
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess4 жыл бұрын
I bag all grass in my area. Although I don’t need to take the clippings away. All houses here have a rolling green waste bin that gets picked up by the city each week on garbage day. Thanks for watching.

Not sure if anyone else does this but I live down in Portland and I have my customers pay me x dollars year round and it covers gutters, mulch spreading, bushes, fertilizing, and of course the typical mow, edge and blow. It works out perfect it keeps me in touch with my customers year round and the pay is consistent even in the winter. Another couple things you can do is hang lights as well as deliver Christmas tree to make bonus!!!

Interesting, I have heard of people doing 12 equal payments before but not with all those services included. I have always thought of that as more like a strata or HOA type package. Very intriguing idea. Thanks for sharing and watching.

I am curious as to how to pick the right fertilizer for clients. What's the process of selecting the right fertilizer?
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess4 жыл бұрын
Every area and region will have different grass types and requirements. My best advice would be to skip the big box stores and find a local fertilizer and seed supplier. They will be more knowledgeable about what’s used in your area and at what time of year. Plus they will have bigger bulk packages of seed and fertilizer at much better contractor pricing.
@Virtuewz4 жыл бұрын
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess So avoid the big box stores and look for the stores specializing in fertilizer and seeds. I can imagine they would be more knowledgable and supply better deals. I will find a good supplier and expand into the fertilizing and overseeding. Do you have any tips on overseeding and fertilizing?

Very good tips. People have to change their thinking from an employee mindset to a business owner mindset. Making $500+ per day GROSS is not all money in your pocket after you subtract your overhead costs of running your own business with gas, insurance, tax, equipment purchases and maintenance, employees etc.Most landscape business fail after a few years when people think they are doing well looking at their GROSS intake, but realize there is not much left at the end of the year after the costs of running a business is taken away. The tips Julio laid out will help you run a profitable business.
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess5 жыл бұрын
Great points about it being gross income. Also people have to take into consideration that in most areas lawn care is only seasonal, but with all that being said, if you start adopting a entrepreneurial mindset, and do some planning and focus on the tips laid out in the video, you will realize the amount of income earned is really only limited by your own beliefs. Thanks for watching.

Hi there, Are you in Cloverdale BC? I'm on Vancouver Island and have thought about going with a 30 inch mower. Thought about the TORO HDX, what made you go with the Exmark?
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess4 жыл бұрын
I like Exmark. I have been really happy with the 36” turf tracer I own. The Exmark and Toro are pretty much the same. I believe the only difference is the way the front wheels adjust and how the front of the deck looks cosmetically. If Exmark was not available to me I would have no hesitation getting the Toro version. Thanks for watching.

of course, $500 per day is doable but what about burnout? And maybe I'm wrong about this, but route density is becoming a myth in the lawn biz these days as well. Every company is trying to get multiple clients in the same neighborhoods. So it is rare that one company is going to get 5 in a row or even 3 in a row anymore on the same block. I have been on streets where there were 4 mowing companies on the same street at the same time. Like we're all a bunch of sharks competing for the same high-end customers. it's really quite annoying.
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess5 жыл бұрын
Burnout would depend on how you price properties for the area you choose to serve. Route density does not have to mean 3 or 4 on the same block. It can also be 1 on one block and one a few blocks away and so forth. As long as you focus on one small area instead of trying to cover an entire city or multiple cities. I think it’s one of the lessons I took away from when I was a part of a franchise company and had a specific territory to work in. Thanks for watching

It slows down for lawn care depending on where you live, but still lots of other work you can do like leaf cleanups, hedge trimming, pruning, garden cleanups, gutter cleaning, Christmas lights, fence jobs, rubbish removal and of course snow removal and salting etc. Thanks for watching.

When you have that many lawns in a day, maybe 4 days a week, how do you get someone to sub for you when your gone? Have ever approached reality companies or banks about property they or their customers are holding? I know itd be short term gigs,but I'm thinking that a revolving relationship could be fruitful? I dont know of anyone ever mentioning this in any videos I've watched. I may be wrong headed in my thinking though,idk.
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess4 жыл бұрын
I think it may be fruitful but the reason most don’t mention it is probably because once you get started building a client list you’ll find that it’s so much easier to focus on reoccurring work like residential clients. Steady work, week after week. With many clients being very loyal and log term year after year. Thanks for watching.
@ciphercode22984 жыл бұрын
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess I agree about the repetitive work and loyal clients. I may approach one or two local realtors and see if it drums up anything. May at least help with my pressure washing part of the business. Pressure washing might be a saleable service to folks looking to sale their homes. It's a one and done weekend project. I can wash most homes in an hour or so and usually get around a $100. Thanks again for your help and great resources.

I agree with most of what you're saying. However, there is a completely different way of looking at it: A few years ago I started noticing that my favorite lawns were the ugly lawns. Many of them were cut twice per month. Ugly lawns can usually be done much more quickly than the meticulous lawns. And the thing is, you can often charge up to 33% or more for a twice-monthly account, even for an ugly lawn.....so if you fill up your day with lawns that you're making 33% more on, then this really adds up. I agree that these bi-weekly types of customers often don't have as much money for extra jobs but this is not always the case...but again, the profit margin is much higher with each cut. But it's not only the money...it's the time. When you're cutting executive lawns in executive neighborhoods, it takes more time to deal with all the fine details. Slower mowing, slower trimming, longer blowing times, picking up trash, pulling the occasional weed, picking up sticks, etc etc.... Let's just say, for the sake of argument that you spend an extra 10 minutes on an executive lawn in order to really make it look pristine....that means if you're cutting 15 lawns per day, that's 150 extra minutes....or 2 1/2 hours more. Even with an extra 5 minutes, that's still an hour and 15 minutes extra per day. Personally I like my ugly lawns in older neighborhoods that we can zip through and be done with in nothing flat. Giving people a fast, Wal-Mart cut twice a month can be just as profitable, with much less headaches than bending over backwards trying to make everything look perfect in millionaire neighborhoods.
