I guess people don't realize, it costs money to perform charitable works. Fuel, equipment, string, blades... None of that stuff is free. I see no problem with monetizing videos to help pay those expenses. As someone who works in labor intensive fields, donating the labor is a huge thing. Keep doing what you're doing.

I just started watching his channel, and it just irritates me when I see comments like you describe. It's just people trying to tear down someone who is doing something for others. Being kind is so rare nowadays, if someone is, then there just has to be a catch or some hidden gotcha... so every knucklehead with a keyboard sets out to find it then post about it like they've just found the identity of the 2nd shooter on the grassy knoll. Truth is, I don't care if the ad revenue is paying for fuel, equipment, etc and puts profit in his pocket. I see nothing wrong with that. Judging from the # of views his videos get (this one is barely a month old and has over 600k), he's found something that interests people, which in turn allows him to generate revenue off his channel. I've seen other channels post what they are making, etc but they don't get near his views, so I can speculate what he's getting, but I don't care. Personally how I look at his channel (and not to insult the man), but he's not a landscaper who posts KZbin videos... He's a KZbin personality who posts landscaping videos, all the while giving some pointers on lawncare and business... and then tosses in some cheesy jokes along the way. If anything, it's a genius business model that he's come up with.

This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

@John Smith If you live in the Suburbs in a sub-division with an HOA, if you don't mow grass, edge, etc...you get a fine. If don't pay fine and continue not to take care of lawn repercussions escalate and they put a lean on home. Even if no HOA...say live in urban area, in some cities or towns if your lawn and lot gets overgrown it can be a problem. Some places the cities or towns will fine you for that and tell you to fix it. If you don't, more fines and jail time can occur. You are so right. I heard just this week about an elderly, disabled lady. Two men in a truck came and said they would pressure wash her home for $200. They intimidated her until she said "yes". They moved all her stuff out of the garage and off the porch. They used dishwashing liquid from the Dollar Tree and did half the house and then stopped. They told her she owed them $1,800 for an unfinished job with her stuff still in the yard. They threatened her and intimidated her so she told them all she had was $500 and they made her give them that and left. She wasn't able to take care of herself and was taken advantage of. Now they know the lay of her yard and house, what she has in her garage, etc. She's scared to death and what could the police do? She agreed to let them pressure wash the house and she gave them the money. She's afraid the police can do nothing as she did finally agree to let them pressure wash the house and they did do some work. But now we get to see a young man who is willing, with a good attitude, to help others. May we not forget men like this. As a Christian, I've seen many men (and women) who do things like this out of the goodness of their heart in our church and it's so refreshing to see it. So when we hear about the bad people, we need to remind ourselves there are still good people who do good things all day and every day.
@karlharford1553 жыл бұрын
I tried to play devil’s advocate and tried to figure out why people gave flak about uploading and “making money” from this. Two things I can think of. First is in a perfect world “silent service” is all we should ever strive for. PERFECT WORLD. We don’t live in that world. Any money received is food on a table and roof over the head of this man and his family. Second reason is “gain from suffering.” This is a home that someone was suffering and couldn’t do the job themselves. Are too, too many stories in our world of people receiving kindness only to be embarrassed by the production of videos highlighting their suffering. The owner wasn’’t in the video and full disclosure was given. He informed the owner it would be a video of transforming their yard. It wasn’t done without the owner’s knowledge and that matters.

Sounds like those people just want a reason to bitch about anything, he does the work for free, people can watch the video for free and he still gets paid for his effort, literally everybody involved wins, you can't please everyone . . . especially those that don't want to be.
@eleanorrice1953 жыл бұрын
Their problem is jealousy. He made the yard the best in the neighborhood😉. That an maybe a little guilt (doubtful) for not helping a neighbor who needed it
@TexRobNC3 жыл бұрын
There are people who will ALWAYS complain when someone does something good, that it's not "good enough" or "pure enough". Guess who those people aren't? people who help people. They have to take you down to make them feel better about themselves, not that they SHOULD feel bad, because you can't make someone care. It's OK to benefit from your good deeds, it's OK to feel good about yourself for doing them, it's one of the rewards!
@sharonh.harris19243 жыл бұрын
It can also be people who are jealous... "Why didn't he offer to do my yard free?" Some people just can't be happy for others out of pure t jealousy. They are always keeping little scorecards going in their minds and those kind of people are never happy. The only scorecard I want to keep in my head is my Gratitude to God list. I like to regularly think about and praise God for the things I know He has one for me and always cognizant that He does things for me all the livelong day that I'm not even aware of. For instance, so far I've never been the victim of an identity theft. As awful as an identity theft is and how much stress and money you can lose because of it... that is something I can thank God for. I've only had one car and one house break-in in my life and both were minimal thefts. That means God is guarding my car and house even when I don't know it! I can't see them but there are probably angels surrounding my house all day everyday. I've never been in a major auto accident, so that means God has saved me from countless accidents. When I get home from running around in my car, do I thank God that I made my trips without having an accident? I should but often, since it didn't happen, I forget the blessing of His protection. So I keep a list of Gratitude going in my head and thanking God whenever things come to me. There is always something to thank God for, even in the roughest of times. So when I do have a bad day, I try to think of what God did for me and thank Him for it. Like, "I'm in a lot of pain from overdoing it yesterday but, thank God I got all that done. Thank God I had the energy and motivation to work. Thank God for the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that I have now that the job is done. Thank God I don't have a terminal illness, it's just pain that will ease up in time. Thank God I have a comfortable bed to rest in...."

thank you, when I was a Navy wife, whenever my husband was at sea (often for a very long time) another member of the Navy that was home at the time, would do the grass cutting and the snow removal. Living on base housing was nice, but we had to keep it at a certain level. But when my husband was home, he was chill with doing a couple of driveways and lawns. It truly helped (especially when the families had young children or pregnant moms). It was such a help, and we just knew to pay it forward!

One thing I’ve noticed as I’ve started my lawn care operation is that edging is a very overlooked part of lawn maintenance by both homeowners and professionals in my area. One of my neighbors mows the majority of my front yard, while the other neighbor gets the part between the driveway and his yard. However, the back is left to me-a little bit of flat and then a hill. So far, I’ve managed to mow a path to the gates on either side (I have to go out my back door, I can’t manage the 15 steps at the front), and along most of the hill retaining wall. I try to do the weed eating at the front. You’d think the guys at my church would remember after 4 years that I can’t cut the hill, but I have to ask for help every year.
