A couple things to note about Sea Kelp. #1. Sea Kelp still NEEDS water and other nutrients to assist with effects. Sea kelp by itself is not a lawn remedy. It is one tool in your belt that will help with your lawn and should be treated as such. It will not transform your lawn by itself. #2. Do not apply Sea Kelp to dormant grass. The results are obvious. Good, simple, and straight to the point video. I assume since you're in Minnesota, you have some cool season grass going there. It looks like fescue that has been cut at about 2 inches. You're lawn might look even greener if you cut it higher. I'm speaking as a lawn care guy from the transition zone in NC and our TTTF lawns could not survive the brutal heat at 2 inches. With that being said, I'm gonna head over to Amazon and get some of this to try on some of my fescue lawns. I think it will improve them a great deal, THANKS!

Good product and well said. Humic on it's own does a great job and the kelp really improves the root structure. You can mirror their "proprietary" blend with a teaspoon of Superthrive and a 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid added per 1K.

I've read in many places that it is better for the grass to let it grow taller, e.g. 2.5" - 3". In another video, you said that you mow your Kentucky Bluegrass down to 5/8". It would be awesome if you could do a test area to compare the pros and cons of shorter vs taller grass height. My wife actually wants me to cut our grass shorter, but for now I'm siding with taller in belief that it requires less water, fertilizer and weed killer to stay healthy. While my neighbors do mow shorter, it's not a valid comparison, because everyone has different practices in addition to the height. E.g., some water every morning and I only water when it's starting to go dormant. (I've had dormant areas actually die completely in the past, so I think it's cheaper/easier to water enough to keep it healthy.)

@@myboy051 I had to read about the leaf spot/ melting out pathogen, now I know, thanks. I don't have irrigation yet, otherwise I'm sure my lawn would be melting out & looking terrible. I'm still trying to bring back some areas of winter kill, next winter I'm going to keep the snow plow off the grass, stake it out and snowblow because all the areas of lawn that were plowed off got too cold and froze or something because it's all dead. I seeded those areas but my seed was left over from last year and didn't grow so I think that the grass seed got too cold in the garage or too damp, IDK. Someday I'll get it right and I'll have the best lawn in the neighborhood, even better than the policeman living up the road.

I just put the same kelp on my yard last night. I put the kelp down with there humic acid and fulvic acid, and there fish stuff. I'm going to try lighter doses every week and see how that does. I also put in 1 Oz of each product in a gallon jug and watered my plants in the garden.

Worked at a golf club and used these 1.5" hose sprayer attachments that had these huge sea kelp "pucks" inside of them. When we'd spray the fairways with regular water it would just soak in, but when you added the sea kelp, it would act as a surfactant and really help the water stick to the ground and soak in. The affect was like when you go to the beach and see the seafoam stuck to the sand as the tide would pull back. Personally, i swear by this shit getting turf through the summer.

I’m struggling keeping my grass even alive due to the red clay I’m working with. I’m watering, fertilizing, I’ve aerated, I’ve dethatched. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to cultivate my entire yard (can’t afford the amount of topsoil I would need), and reseed. I’m wondering if the existing grass being turned with the soil would decompose and help release nutrient to the soil and give me a fresh start at having (hopefully) soil that isn’t compacted and struggling to provide any nutrients. Hot summer between 38-44C temps. Water every 7-10 days only with hose ,no sprinklers ,with HOSE,no sprinklers. Water for 1-2 hours. No more cutworms,no more problems,grass holds on well this way. All watering in morning. Wet grass at night=problems,bugs,cutworms. Mow at highest setting, once a week.

Dude, you think 88 and no rain is bad. That like spring for me when my lawn looks its best. I’m in Northern California and We don’t get rain from May-November. We go 6-8 months with no rain and we get really hot. We get temps up to 115, and with long summer days my lawn sees about 14 hours a day of this intense sizzling direct sun. Try keeping a perfect lawn perfect through this. They say don’t water during the day but I have to. If I only water in the morning my soil will be hard, dry and cracked by the evening. I actually water 4 times a day. I do 4 min every 4 hours.

Does using antibacterial soap vs. a milder soap make any difference? Have always heard to never use antibacterial soaps as surfactants since it counteracts any good microbes being applied or already within the soil.

I know you said you aren't anti synthetic and neither am I, but consider the acceptance that organics are inherently safer... While some probably are, consider how many patients go to an emergency room for something like a bacterial, fungal or viral infection vs chemical exposure. Things like tetanus are organic bacteria that live in the soil and things that promote bacterial or fungal growth may be beneficial to lawns in some cases, as well as benign to kids and animals, but they also might do the exact opposite by aiding in growth of organic things that are undesirable. Botulism for instance is close to the most deadly toxin known to man and is an organic compound. I just think this shouldn't be boiled down to an ideological simplicity.
