As a New Jerseyan you are spot on about how the weather has been up here until the last couple of weeks. It went from too much rain and cool to suddenly very hot and dry. I think you should send a letter to Desantis to make your Bahia pronunciation the official one ! At least in Florida! Lord knows a lot of New Jerseyan have heard Bahia pronounced that way when I’ve been listening to your podcast in my car!! 😂#BAHIANOTBAHEYA

Allyn, I live in Fernandina Beach area, on the mainland, and we’re on a well. My front lawn I can water directly from the well, but the back and side yards I pull from the hose bibs on the house…But, they are on a water softener system for the rest of the house. It is a salt softener system….My question is…will using the water running thru the softener hurt my grass areas? Thanks, Mike.
@jimmaul Жыл бұрын
My hoses also run through my softener and while i don't use it exclusively to irrigate (my irrigation is on reclaimed water), I have not noticed much impact on the grass when i use it to supplement in some dry areas. I say much because at 1 point I did a soil test and my sodium levels were high but they have since come down and I have not seen that spike since. If you are worried, try doing a soil test and see what you get.

Pure gold LNC! Long time nut cadet here 🫡 🇺🇸 Happy to hear the advice to just enjoy the mow when dealing with a pure take over. I got torpedo grass bad in my St Aug. down in S. FL and that’s been my philosophy for the last few months. 🤙🏼 😎 🇺🇸

Would you ever consider a video on some products to look for at co-ops/bulk buying for us larger lawn folks? I’d like to use more YM products but the costs for 60+k sq ft are rough and I know the shipping costs for you are high too

@allyn hey think up t-shirts and hats with a themed west side story / greasers theme to Bahia Grass. Cigarettes packs rolled up sleeves, stylish hair, leather jackets. etc… It’s cool but it’s the outcast.

I live in Ontario. Everything is banned. We only have a few name brands and Scott’s is the best available. Frequent mowing is the best practice in my experience.

I'm from Southeast FL. Growing up as a kid during the 70's I recall it being pronounced Ba-he-ah and/or Ba-hay-ah. I honestly don't recall hearing Ba-hi-ya till till recently in your videos - must be a west coast FL thing. And yes I too recall it being the standard grass back then in the typical small CBS block construction homes along the coastal-adjacent 50'-60's S FL neighborhoods. The nicer homes closer to and along the intercoastal waterway and over in Palm Beach back then seemed to have bermuda. I don't recall st augustine being common till the mid 70's and up with the explosion of the more western (west of I-95) residential developments. I also used to cut lawns as a kid during the summers so it was a thing for me to notice the grass type.

It's really interesting to talk to folks who grew up here because our experience with lawns is so different from people up north. I am bound and determined to get everyone pronouncing Bahia the way I do though ha ha!!

agreed. I bet that I pronounce a lot of words differently than someone from Brazil. But I still don't know how the pronunciation of "Ba-Hey-A" came about. 😃
