This "guy", Zachary Holler, is a true Texan and reading this book from the other side of the globe was such a treat. So happy to hear him speak. True Texans never shed their roots and this one did not at all. He does live there and he is so well aware of his roots and the places in Texas that I know so well. If you had read the book you would know that he knew Cormac McCarthy, born in Rhode Island. But the scope of this book has invited me to listen again, not just because I love Texas. When people here ask where I am from, they cannot quite guess from my accent honed by many years of teaching, I say, "Texas".

You want a true Texas author? Get Cormac McCarthy: the most underrated writer alive today. This guy's shed his Texas roots a long time ago in order to become more palatable to the coastal elites.
