A last minute conflict came and we were unable to attend Saturday. My fiancee nephew was one of the covering EMT on site Saturday. He texted us the news. I think what our family will really miss the most with Justin, just how amazing he was with the little kids during the redraws!

Sorry to hear about Justin . In my 45 years I have seen too many times . Ascot would lose 3 a year , Manzy 1 or 2 . Flipping seemed less of a problem vs. Sudden stops . Cars are way safer now . Like you , he did what he loved . ✌️

Every time I hear the throttle stick like that, I always take a gulp cause I’ve heard those throttles stick in a severe accident like that before and it’s nerve racking. Prayers sent to the Owens family 🙏🏻

yea I saw it on flo first time I seen a wreck that killed a racer, and I had seen some bad ones such as the ones last year at the 4 crowns that were spectacular, like buddy kofoid getting flipped, they were saying its very bad when flo cuts the feed abruptly, and then 3 hours affter they announced it I saw on my phone at work that Owens had passed and that just took the wind out of my sails sometimes there are no words to express the sadness or words to bring comfort, I did not know him I dont think, but as was pointed out he was last years sprint track champion, as a bit of irony, and sadness, but watching the wreck it looked like he was trying to slide but his tire dug in and turned him, and that nose first like a lawn dart was a hard hit. It could have happened to just about any driver there, so be safe out there Tom, these things weigh next to nothing and have more power then all but a drag car or winged supermodified

I was watching the live Flo Racing feed on You Tube when this tragedy occurred. The live feed was stopped and the video taken down with in 10 minutes. Fear set in when the race was cancelled. As I drove to church on Easter Sunday I couldn't stop thinking about the unimaginable pain his family and friends must be in. I know I don't actually know anyone here, but please folks never pass up a chance to hug your family, friends - or even a stranger and tell them you "love" them. Peace and comfort to the family🙏
