Your mantra of doing it right is great and all. But promoting these soldering heat shrink connectors is far from right. They work okay with small wires but I’d always put another insulator on the outside. The solder doesn’t always stay contained in those things after it melts…. And I didn’t watch the video all the way through, but adding zerks to the aluminum bushings are something you don’t want to skip on.

Just found your channel 2 days ago and like seeing how to change and Mod. the frame and you are doing a good job of explaining what needs done. From all the video's I have watch and living in Pa. where we have a lot of salt on roads I would get a sandblaster and clean and paint the frame then Rapture line the entire frame and underside of the truck and bed to never have to worry about rust again.

Richard at Atomic Fab is a great guy. I have Belltech spindles, and his Viking DA coilovers on front of my Yukon. I did it the same time as my Brembo BBK with 2 piece rotors on the front. They are obviously much lighter than the stock rotors, and the Viking DA coilover setup drops like 75-85 lbs from the torsion bars. I'm running 2013 I think they are polished declad 20" GMC 6 spoke wheels with the rear widened 2" so it's had 275/40/20 and 315/35/20 and now have 275/55/20 front and 325/50/20 Nitto 420V on it. I plan on changing the wheels at some point and maybe run some BC Forged wheels but I cannot express enough how good the front is. The rear is just DJM rear hardware kit Belltech 5305 coils, some Airlift helper bags, and an adjustable panhard bar. Suspension wise I think it's done excpet for new poly bushings and sway bars and with the BC Forged wheels some different size tires and the CTSVbtakeswaponline.com rear Brembo setup to match the front Brembo BBK kit because the stock 2 piston rear calipers just don't match the front that great. Plus Brembo calipers at all four corners of a LQ9 6.0 swapped Yukon lowered 5" on some staggered wheels with a set of CNC 243s, cam, ported TBSS intake, headers, full exhaust, and everything would look awesome. Basically my plan has been to build a fullsize version of a TBSS since I fully built one and loved it I think a half tom version would be even cooler.

BUT I also promise them that I will hold them to the same expectations. If we are at school we will be working and learning. If you plan on doing fabrication work fairly often for fun and profit invest in multiple angle grinders and kit each one out with the different types of wheels you expect to need and have each one ready to go. Being able to grab the right tool instantly is far faster and more enjoyable than swapping wheels every time, it also reduces the risk of personal injury and the time saved will quickly pay for the multiple tools.

Is that really enough uptravel in the shocks ? I would be afraid my truck would bottom out the shocks on big dips and bumps . I was hoping to do this kit on my truck and keep about 4" compression. My truck is lowered 4" in the rear with a shackle and hanger kit.
@LawrenceTolman Жыл бұрын
ideally you would have a little more in each direction, but the shocks provided here only have 5.5" of total travel so we must split the difference. that being said, I have a 6" stroke rear shock on my drag truck, and for street use or at the track, I don't have any issues.
@MovingToads Жыл бұрын
This is actually the exact issue I am now dealing with. Going ti be adding bump stops and tightening up the compression.

Help needed!! Hey LT really like the videos you put out. A while back I relocated the shocks on my 99 regular cab stepside, using the same atomic brackets and viking shocks you used, I followed instructions from your video of the COPO truck. When I got done I tried my best at adjusting the knobs on the shocks based on what the sheet provided was saying; ever since I did this to my truck it hasn’t been able to do a proper burnout, every time I try to do a burnout the whole truck bounces and shakes violently. Do you or anyone know what could be the cause of this shake?

One little trick if you can’t get a socket on a nut if stud is too long. Use a spark plug socket ( if it’s the right size) then a regular socket that fits it. One example is on fuel tank straps.Would be nice if you could get sockets of all sizes made like that. If there is tell me.
