Absolutely stunning little engine! i did enjoy listening to your words on the age of those vintage trains. It never occurred to me that those old toys are now older than some preserved real locomotives! I never thought about it that way. In a sense then, owning such toys is, in a way, locomotive preservation, just with smaller engines built for a different purpose. Instead of pulling passengers and freight, they were made to pull the imagination of whomever sees them. And with preservationists like yourself, that little engine, and many more, will continue to run "revenue-earning" service for years to come, earning fares paid in smiles and dreams.

Amazing! Lawrie once again convinced me to make a very responsible financial decision. Dublo is great but Triang TT is more cute and the oval of track is pretty long but still fits in a small space unlike dublo.

The fuel tank is removable and a screw is underneath to remove roof then bogies can be removed.that is an early one and has metal handrails like staples.

What a Fantastic Video. I love the fact that you love vintage model train's of "TT" gauge it is the first time I have seen this gauge of trains being used & enjoyed.

Give me an old model loco any day. There must be something in the air as I've just finished replacing a split gear on an old Farish class 57. Happy days.

I have 3 Triang TT3 locos: Two Jinties (one painted, lined & renumbered) and a diesel shunter. I use Type B track with both Triang and Tillig points. The bog stock Triang TT British Railways Jinty is numbered 47607. However, if one checks the records, there was never a 47607 under British Railways because 7607 was scrapped by the LMS in the late 1930's.

What a great little loco! Also I have scratch built some OO scale Ruston 48s, and I’m thinking of building sir William!

At the last HRCA auction I bought a collection of Tri-ang catalogues and that of course appears in them. I'll have to look and see what else there is in the catalogues too. I rather liked the DMU they made for TT which was different to the OO one. A very enjoyable and strangely relaxing video as well - thank you.

I think the Triang TT gauge is brilliant. I've got a stack of it all in boxes because I have no room for a layout. I hadn't thought of making a garden layout. I may just give it a go.

Lovely video, love the word "twee" haha I have a OO class 47 in virgin livery that has/had this problem of derailing but I think the corners on my old layout were bit too sharp for it.

Way to go on that one dude, it really is a proud moment when you can fix up an older model - something I've done before but, I feel needs more attention! Also, TT 9F?...

Triang TT has a unique charm of it's own. Completely separate from Hornby's current TT 120 range.

Keep a look out for an 08 shunter. Britannia, jinty and Dmu. In TT and of course hornbys new TT120 slightly smaller but same gauge track.

Nice to see how well this old model runs. I noticed that this model looked closer to actual 1:87 HO scale for me when I compare the size of your 31 in relation to objects around it to the HO class 66 I have, so I had to look it up. And yes, old British TT scale is 1:100 so closer to HO than to the new Hornby TT which is 1:120 like it continental counterpart. The 1:120 scale matches better with the 12mm track width but the old models have their charm too.

I always remember TT as 3mm to the foot - pretty sure my old book on model railways by Ernest F. Carter covers it.

Hi Lawrie glad you got a 31. What you can do is to put a second power bogie in if you want or wire up all the pick ups on each wheel too. Caroline

Triang TT was designed to be played with, not to look 100% authentic and the fact that its probably old enough to be played with by Larry's father and it runs like silk shows just how well they were built back then.

If they had selected the original TT scale instead of TT120 I would have been an instant convert. Shame they went for the more scale size, which even though correct, just loses that 'perfect feel' that this size has.
