This has to be a first in lmm history, 5 engines of any description running in one video. Normally you struggle to get one engine going! Great video.

My grandad has a couple of large ish traction engines and one farm steam engine on display that are still in working conditions I hate that and wish he would start them once in a while...so it makes me happy when I see people like you who look after them properly and run them every now and again like they should be!!!! :) Good video, stay safe Fin

I have six Mamods that I bought as a box of bits at an antique fair. I could see from the contents that there were several complete sets of bits. I re-built them all, the only parts I replaced were a couple of safety valves and a couple of steam pipes that were badly bent. They all run!

Something truly wonderful about getting them going together - after Saturday have decided the plural term for more than one Mamod in steam should be 'a Thrum' - as they do make rather a glorious noise. Brilliant to see yours going too, all a tremendous amount of fun. Best wishes from Kes.

Lawrie, I would love to see more in depth video on the engines, not only that but doing this in a seperate video rather then Live Stream has provided better video quality which has made the video better :)

Super idea, what fun. I had the mid size stationary engine as a kid, always wanted the traction engine but alas had to wait till being an adult. Get mine driving around in circles on my decking!

I have a Mamod (the one you have with the black box but with a canopy) they are fun little tractors. Its always bothered me how fast it runs though. I havent heard of the Wilesco before but now im shopping for one. Love the idle speed and love the chain steering! one thing ive always wanted to make a little sawmill for my mamod using a dremel wood cutting saw, figured that would be a good fit for the mamod and give it something to do with all that rpm

I'm always so impressed when I see these running because the miniscule dimensions of the engineering is amazing to me and how it works so well. The two green ones seemed to be in competition to see who could blow up first 😂

Love miniature steam engines, used to do first aid cover at some steam rallys and loved the miniature traction engines and steam lorries that used to rocket around the place, Also became a big fan of a full size Canadian traction engine called moose lol might be an idea for when lockdown is over is a few videos on ride on miniature steam engines 😁😁 nice to see your collection though, Might get one myself 😁😁

Ive finally sent for a Mamod ive waited 45 years, now ive seen your Wilesco Im after one of them now, ive got the bug lol, Ive set one system up as a generator, and im now thinking of making a merry go round that packs in a trailer, to go with a Wilesco, Its another very early memory, a traction engine came to the town, (some festival was going on) I was about 6, but I was fascinated how it ran the merry go round and lite up all the bulbs and played music, oh and the engine driver made his fried breakfast on the coals, with leds I think I stand a chance of making something, Ive seen lots of traction engines but ive not seen the merry go round setup yet.

I've got a Mamod TE1A I'd love to run one day: but at the same time, it was just a mantle display piece for my stepdad's father, and he threw all the other stuff for it away. since he passed (and he was my stepdad's last living parent) I feel like it wouldn't be right to run the thing--it's literally still factory fresh.

I worked for G Model Shop for roughly about 6 to 7 years in between being in the military and I can tell you right off the bat at first we were selling those engines but when I came back from the military they stopped selling them all together there’s something about too dangerous exploding in kids get burnt ! They always find excuse to eliminate our fun ! Later I found out that these engines were also made by Mike’s Train house During the small brief period that he was working with Lionel but they were electrical another words they ran off the transformers from the trench but in the same idea ! As a vintage and antique collector of models and toys I can tell you right off the bat you’re practically impossible to fine ! And if you do find one you’re going to have to pay an arm and a leg ! 🌊🐺

I reckon you should deffo do a review of the Wilesco in the same style you do your full size reviews. With the camera angles making it look like a full size...

Well, I have a few model steam engines also, but only light one at a time, because if I would light all of them, it would be stressy. But I love to be lazy when I can so...I light one at a time.

my te1 ran better on meths than it does on the solid fuel. runs well but needs to be on the level to move with the trailer on the back full of oil and fuel and funnels and cloths. Did the annual check 2 weeks ago and still works well even though 50+ Years old

I see you have a generator on that D40. Mine does not have that. Did that come with the generator like the D409, if not, how did you manage to mount it? What do you power with it? I have never seen a D40 with a generator! I have Mamods and Wilesco's that I usually run on compressed air, I call airdrive, because it takes around ten minutes to build up a head of steam then runs about seven minutes, but with airdrive, I can get them running instantly and can ruin them for half a hour! I could run more but I don't want to run out the oil. Happy steaming!
