CBDC isn't money. Regular money comes in banknotes. CBDC is assets, and as such subject to the whims of the government. They can just decide your money expires (china is already doing that, or has at least announced they're going to do it), meaning you can't save up. They can decide you're not allowed to spend it on arbitrary types of goods and services. And all that on top of the rest, like how they turn you and your financials 100% translucent.

Minorities have a large distrust of banks. Not necessarily government per se, but literally banks. Many minorities literally had their savings seized because of the color of their skin. They were assumed to be less intelligent, and if they complained who was going to believe them anyway?

To be fair, centralizing the bank isn't the only way to remove the barriers against people going unbanked. One option, is to sell prepaid EBT cards (let's say, require them to be available for sale or reloading at any store that sells prepaid payment cards), then require all businesses to accept EBT at equally favorable terms as any other accepted payment system. (Maybe allow businesses that don't accept any form of electronic payment to take cash instead.) Or just make accepting cash mandatory. (Preferably including for online businesses. Mail is a thing, after all, though making the post office more reliable will be important.)

Maybe but then you have to know how to accurately appraise the barter items and so does everyone else you barter with. And even if walmart took silver dollars that's one expensive loaf of bread. And using miniature forms of precious metals to break a 20 so to speak wastes money over spot price.

Only as an investment, not a currency. If I'm selling a chicken for 1/4 gram of gold, how do you propose all scales be calibrated? Also, what if I'm selling shirts online? Does someone mail me a half gram in an envelope? There are a lot of issues with using metals. However, returning to the gold standard is a way to "use" precious metals while still standardizing the representation of gold. In other words,we had a fantastic system that we should go back to.

2 things that cannot be controlled even with the CBDC. First is bartering. Second is that there is nothing stopping a secondary physical or digital currency from being developed even to a local level - this includes crypto.

iirc, it was floated way before the couf. It amounted to being penalized a very small negative interest rate for money that just sat in a bank account doing nothing. My only real concern about CBDC is that governments might get rid of cash. The government's ability to track your credit-card purchases may not quite be real time. But it is close enough for practical purposes. And perhaps you would like to do a video about how KYYC affects cryptocurrencies or how the ever-increasing ledger sizes create a _de facto_ centralization. You can hype up the idea that governments don't like crypto. But it looks to me like they love it.

I don't use the banking system at all. No credit or debit cards or checks. I pay for everything in Cash even my utility bills and property tax. Digital currency will ruin the secondary market such as having yards sales. Selling on Craig's list etc.

One major error. The Federal Reserve is NOT part of the government. It was created by the government, but it is a private corporation. The FED doesn't pay taxes and is never audited. But the FED will have knowledge and who they share that with is their purview. The issue of data mining by the FED is a concern. They will sell this info. They will share with law enforcement.

Please do not make this a democrat vs republican issue. This is an issue that everyone needs to take into account. This issue goes beyond politics. I feel it is a case of a concept or thing existing and the laws surrounding it have not yet caught up. The laws need to be in place such that an external body regulates this. I honestly feel there should be a complete separation between banking (the financial sector) and the government. The government's place is to create/legislate laws that the rest of us either execute (as a front line service provider) or follow as a citizen. Having the government make the legislation in congress (or parliament outside the US) and then execute the same laws by running the CBDC is a clear breach of the separation of powers. The other issue here is profit. The banking sector now exists to make money (ie more profits). That does not always deliver the best customer service but it does mean these corporations have profits as their #1 priority which is not a bad thing. If the governments ran banking through the CBDC, their main priority would be something other than making profits. This is a very scary thing. Very few governments around the world actually care about working towards operating and overall surpluses. They just live on debt. They keep raising the debt ceiling over and over when they cap out and never pay anything back. This has the potential to wreck havoc on the country's economy. Digital currencies are fine if regulated properly. However government run digital currencies, like the CBDC where the government is the bank, are all kinds of bad. The main question that should be asked is why does the government want to enter the banking sector when they have zero interest in good fiscal management? I think we are starting to realise the answer to this question

The problem with bitcoin or other digital currencies is that the majority of the wallets are owned by companies that will give over your wallet addresses if the government requests them making the decentralized aspect irrelevant, also they can lose their value similar to the stock market. The only way to keep your wallet safe from the government would to host your own personal bitcoin or cryptocurrency wallet where you were the only one able to access those addresses, which takes work. With gold and silver you physically own something of value that maintains value and the only way for the government to know about it or seize is to have physical knowledge and access to it.
