I know she painted herself as she’s a victim and all this but what about all the abuse before then with not giving your child lunch telling the teacher that yeah I’m not gonna bring him. It’s his responsibility nothing was done and then you four aren’t getting Christmas presents but you guys are and then how she had food and they didn’t they had to work for their food. This woman is a monster and now she gets painted as a victim and the dad who is the abuse these kids too so he’s not any better it’s just her horrific, you know and it’s sad that people are falling for it like this guy on here. Ruby has NEVER been a “devoted mother”, more like a drill sergeant that punishes her children for months at a time for doing normal kid things, calls getting food from the kitchen “STEALING”, who withholds affection and food for minor breaches like not making a bed. She might not have been beating them before Jody came along but she was ripe for conversion because she already treated her kids like possessions.

Ruby and Kevin both withheld food a lot of punishment with the kids. Took the sons bed away for months! Kevin was just as guilty! He also had several students complain about abusive behavior,rants about how “evil” social media was. Punishing kids he saw do TikTok outside of class when they were back in class. He’s supported Jodi before to, openly. I don’t believe for a second he had any issue with what was happening. Instead of worrying about his kids he was trying to charge his daughter with theft of devices the police let her take for her siblings she had custody for and the police were there.

I have a hard time believing Ruby is really taking responsibility for what was done to her kids as, at the first hearing after her arrest, she threw her youngest children under the bus for her "predicament"... now she's doing same to Jody. It feels like her MO is to blame others! Just like an accomplice to a crime is as guilty as the perpetrator of the crime, she's as guilty as Jody, and both need to do time for these heinous crimes. And when her sentence ends, any contact with her children should be supervised visitation only until all of the children reach adulthood and can decide for themselves if they want a relationship with Ruby in the future. Jody should never be able to counsel anyone again. And neither of them should be allowed to ever have any type of social media account.

I suspect financial support is an issue. It’s a burden for a young woman to raise her siblings no matter how much she loves them. It might be more pragmatic to work with her father’s financial support. I’m very wary of Kevin’s role as a parent because of his role in 8 passengers.

I investigated child abuse for 30 years (way over a thousand cases). Sadly, the majority of child abuser see very little jail time unless it is SA. There are many reasons for the lack of jail time, (children too young to testify, children will be traumatized during the trail, children recant their original abuse story...). The powers that be would rather rehabilitate abusers through assistance and therapy, than scar children by seeing their parent in jail. I may be wrong, but if we look at past cases, I don't see Ruby getting much jail time. After jail she will have strict rules and specific hurdles to master before reunification. I think it is a different story for Jodi because she has no familial relationship to the children. Just a prediction, we will see what happens.

Same is true at least in CO for DV defendants. My former SIL just got a plea deal of no jail time. Only 2 yrs probation, 200 hrs community service, substance and mental health evaluation and treatment, plus no further contact with any of my late 78 yr old brother’s surviving family members. Our family can only hope and pray that it works for her, us, and her future relationships. Does our family believe justice was served for what she did to my brother? Not at all.

Jody wasn't around during 8P when Ruby decided to let her 3 yr old starve because the child forgot to pack her own lunch. Jody wasn't around during 8P when Kevin made a video saying if people didn't like the way they discipline their kids then don't watch. Just because abuse isn't physical doesn't change the fact its abuse. Jody may be an abusive & vile human being but she's not responsible for everything the Frankes put their kids through & for the Frankes to say so they r denying accountability. Kevin wanted his eldest daughter charged with robbery for going into a house to get some of her younger siblings belongings after they were rescued, a house he hasn't stepped foot into in a year. Even after the police said they couldn't charge her he said he'll be researching it more, he was hell bent on ruining her future, That's the type of father he is & that says it all.

She withheld meals from them if they didn't do their chores. This is abuse. This was before Jodi was in the picture. And you may think these are small things, but these children were exploited for her benefit on KZbin, and she did not care that some of her parenting skills were questionable AND authorities were notified about what people saw. So. I am pretty sure my first statement was indeed factually correct. She should not be able to cry "Jodi made me do it and it's HER fault. " Ruby was abusive and so narcissistic and self righteous on 8 Passengers, she didn't need Jodi's help. She most certainly WAS an abuser before Jodi. Those are the facts.

Imho, Ruby and Jodi should have the books thrown at them and be behind bars for as long as the law will allow. If Ruby’s son hadn’t so courageously escaped, there is no doubt in my mind that her children wouldn’t be alive by now.

Yeeeaahhh.. im not putting too much stock into what Kevins lawyer says about mutual allegations. A lot of this looks like things being lined up for a smooth transition once she's released - which I expect to happen in the not so distant future (unfortunately) - generally it just seems to me like both Ruby and Kevin are being given fairly good advice on how to make things look right and proper so they can get access to the kids again as quickly as possible. At this stage im not even expecting that divoce to be finalized if she's released.

After watching Shanda Vander Ark trial for murdering her son Timothy Ferguson through torture and starvation, we should all be emailing the judge and demanding he deny any plea deal that does not put her in prison for years. She was facing six charges with the potential for 16 years EACH. Child abuse is an epidemic in this country that is swept under the rug, and we all need to start standing up and demanding stiffer penalties.

It’s unfortunate. Ruby was abusing her kids long before Jodi came around. We all saw it on KZbin.. & what’s also unfortunate is that she will not spend time in jail & she’ll walk away from this. A lot of times our country for whatever reason- let child abusers & child predators go with very little jail time or consequences. I’ll never understand. The ones we are supposed to protect the most- we always fail.

Yes, to video on Ruby's plea deal. Blaming Jody's influence in the abuse of her own children only goes so far IMO. She deserves sufficient prison time for this crime.

Did Ruby Franke really show significant change in her behavior towards her children after Jody Hildebrand’s involvement? She seemed to have prettty harsh natural consequences for her children as well as imposed pretty harsh punishments on her children. She farmed her kids out as unpaid laborers and appeared to be pretty much in control of her own person and home. Ruby’s own stated philosophy about having to be responsible and held accountable for their actions seems to be opposite of her placing blame on someone other than herself. Did she ever let her children blame someone else for their actions?
