The library of congress are changing the PA form so you can put the AI section and the human section for the origional creation. So yes you can monetize it.
@gemplate2 ай бұрын
I think that the core problem with AI generated music, isn't all about, copyright and royalties. it's that AI generated Music means taking away artistic opportunity from human composers, and handing it over to machines, regardless of the monetization aspect. (I.E. replacing human composers with machines, which is a harm in it of itself.)

Hypothetically they could just sue every musician an person dating back to the start of recorded music then since they could say we all trained ourselves on their music

IMHO the music industry is not the saviour of songwriters against evil AI, but on the contrary is looking for a way to make money without having to deal with 'annoying' artists/creators. As soon as the A&Rs can make a new Ed Sheeran album at the touch of a button, they will.

You should worry about social backlash and perception of your channel. As for copyright, you shall not worry today, but just god knows what will happen tomorrow with these lawsuits and copyright laws on AI.

UK here... Just been updating our policies at work to cover AI and we specifically mention two things if staff use an AI to generate content and/or answer a question... 1. It must be anonymised to prevent personal data breaches 2. It most not contain any commercially sensitive information Anything you enter into an AI is fair game for the AI and can show up in onther answers the AI genrates. It becomes, through the license agreement, the property of the AI company. Most of our staff were totally unaware of this despite agreeing to the terms! Torn about this specific one... the labels own the rights and the artists deserve recognition for their works. If you equate AI learning to human learning though, we hear music and it forms part of the fabrice that we then use to create new music. It might sound very similar or be heavily influenced by a specific song, artist or genre. Noone expects a portion of the proceds from this new work to go to the people who inflienced the writer... Complex. I think lawyers might make a few bucks on this 😉

There will be open source AI tools to "un-fingerprint" AI music, it's an endless rabbithole. Reminds me of the adblock war on youtube. You can't close the pandora's box.

It is no more copyright infringement than interpolation is. If interpolation is allowed then they have zero grounds (in my opinion)

I've been saying this for years. Microsoft, Google, Adobe etc want to stamp out open source AI because it's "dangerous" and "unethical", so they can be the sole gatekeepers and charge what they like. The music companies are crying foul for the same reason. But they also want to create virtual artists over which they have 100% control, and, of course, who are forever young. AI might have the potential to give true artists superpowers, but instead, If we allow it, we're on the threshold of the biggest corporate scam in history. And once it's done, it will be irreversible.

I wonder if this is the same as me learning to play guitar by listening to different music or when an artist says they were inspired by whatever Band and they sound similar.
@c-flat2 ай бұрын
Now, can you see the end game? Why does no label invest in artist development anymore? They intend to replace artists. Also, the AI could quickly produce every permutation and combination of chords, and then the AI owner copyright every melody. Thus leaving nothing but copyright infringements in the future of all musicians. 😔😔🧙🏻♂️

Because of this ive started pivoting my marketing efforts to no longer promote my music, to now promoting my personality. For personality, and being relatable as a fellow human, will be the only thing that differentiates and artist from AI.

So what argument did Ed Sheeran present in court in the case where he was sued by Marvin Gaye's estate on his song, "Thinking Out Loud" sounding very very similar to Gaye's, "Let's Get It On"? Has anyone who has ever worked for an AI company given evidence to support that the AI companies are using artists voice for cloning?

Attribution is important because the AI generated content has no copyright protection. You can't use copyright free AI content and pretend a human made it and can claim authorship. I'm sure studio marketing execs would love to put out records with no artists to pay, but if there are no artists, then there is no way to monetize the content.

When I pointed out how search engines were copying web sites without permission I got crickets. Obviously the majority rules. If the majority are not educated, well, do the best with what you can. A 600 million dollar lawsuit against wayback machine would be tearful to some because they do not have AI to scrape it before the lights go out and there is terabytes of historical data useful to computer nerds, not just musicians. In some cases, wayback machine will be the only legitimate source that can prove when something was published, if you want copy write protection "for all" taking down that site will erase a lot of proof. My concern is automated music generation can easily outpace human production (there are only 96 musical frequencies) so they may have to pay for fishing licenses and only are allowed to catch a dozen fish per year (per llc)? Swap fish for songs. The software is already loose, it doesn't matter what kind of format identification tags you want to use, they are not enforceable? AI can not tour on stage, until the rules are solid, I am not using it, I do not need it. I trained my mind on music already. I would like the option to use it if it helps others, but I can only guess what that looks like, I will put the ideas out there, but if they do not resonate, oh well. Making .25 cents a song should be a "minimum" wage? Per musician plus the person mixing it? With inflation, pennies is borderline imaginary money? The other side of the coin is people can only afford so much music. If you buy 200 cds a year, no way you can listen to new artists without advertisers picking up the tab?

Seeing a future scenario, where an Artist is sued for copyright infringement violating an Universal Music AI generated track. 🤔🤣 Or if AI generated art can't be copyright protected, it is legal to sample from them or reuse melodies etc. The rules are so, blurry and biting themselves in the tail. 🤪 I guess the ownership of the AI generated track might have to be bought from Universal Music and the AI origin kept a secret (to be able to profit from it). More like selling the idea of a track, than the actual product. Or here is a pro sounding background, add your own melody and vocals.

Would it be so wrong, unethical, or an infringement if an AI music company recorded a singer who sounds like Ariana Grande and used her voice as the persona for its customers to use as an AI singer? Record Companies instead of suing AI companies need to evolve themselves and embrace the change that AI has revolutionized, and offer a platform for artists creating AI material. When, if they have not already, will entities such as the Grammy Awards and Billboard acknowledge the works created by AI and its users to include categories for AI awards and chart listings?

They use Ai but wont want this known but rather they will try and use their power to stop it being available en mass. They don't want anything undermining their multi billion. pound empire and money is power that can influence the top of politics and law. Prince and MJ could see this as do many a musician and songwriter. I have had personal experience of fraud and corruption as I am sure many have had in the music business!!!!!

There are a few questions that the hip hop community want to know about the music industry, "360" deals, joint ventures, licensing, contracts, masters, publishing, ascap, bmi whenever you are free. I'll ask you about real contract disputes between popular record labels and artists within hip hop. I watched most of your videos and maybe this will fill in some of the blanks that we maybe didn't understand from your videos.

What if there was a service where filmmakers and content creators could access a library of AI-generated cover songs to use in their content and films? Part of the royalties would still go back to the original artist, similar to how cover songs are used in movies today. The difference is that these covers would be created by AI-no band required - there’s gotta be a way to make something like that available as a tool to creators but ethical and fair to musicians
