She's the type of secretaries we used to have in our department - experienced and knew how to get the job done. But now, one got a better job, another retired, and the third wants to retire and isn't happy with how the department has become. Any temp we've had since hasn't been nearly as great. Gotta love people who work like this.
@ps4peace9 ай бұрын
And then there's the firm lays off all the good people for the young, less experienced and cheaper pay rolls. Leaving Career partners scrambling to get things done. Top that off with the firm that also wipes out the WP (IYKUK) dept. too. Good times!
@professormeow33999 ай бұрын
Well you can't expect people to become great at what they do on day one. You need to keep the good people happy AND help the inexperienced to grow into their role. It seems your department sucks at both. Companies nowadays just want golden geese employees without doing or investing much into them. This seems especially true for lesser valued "lower" staff like secretaries (while of course the expectations are high). Then they complain about good and experienced people leaving and not immediately finding a younger, possibly cheaper replacement on the same level.
@myrixica42228 ай бұрын
Well, there's your problem, you're hiring temps. Now don't get me wrong, temps are great, wonderful, fantastic, but only at what they are for, short term fill to make sure paperwork gets done. But they don't know the business, so they can't be like this. You gotta hiring and train people.
@w0000ticus8 ай бұрын
lmao what a boomer take

Temps don’t have any incentive to be great. Hire permanent people with a reason to stick around. I must admit personality matters, it’s not just training. An independent person with a brain is invaluable.

I actually just realized that too. Also you can tell she was just a little too good and confident in herself; Harvey read that right away (but hid his hand so that she wouldn't see). He then realized he couldn't risk interviewing and hiring the other candidates (aside from GRetchen) cause then he'd risk the usual Boss/Good looking Secretary conflict (and not many folks can be disciplined like DOnna to keep them both in line) so he grabbed Gretchen, tested her confidence level and then hired her.

Gretchen is the kind of person you need. She was born for this. She few up in the seen but not heard era. She is a person who most rich and snuddy people overlook. They see her as the hired help/ maid but don’t know she is a force to be reckoned with. People will always underestimate her. And their lies her super hero strengths. With her age, most people will never have given her a chance. I’m sure she knows that. So her taking a chance anyways shows her willingness. And hiring her will give her the opportunity to show her gratitude and loyalty. She has been bullied all her life. She has developed a thick skin. She will not just back down, she will just find another way around you. And….. you will never see her coming! You replace a beast with another kind of beast. Go get em Gretchen!!!!
