Mike isn't kissing ass. I mean that one Harvard grad was smiling at him the other gave a head movement like "sup!" Harvey doesn't respect someone who is just gonna be a little puppy. Literally what made up his mind was Mikes comment about "sometimes I like to hang out with people who are not that bright" which some would consider rude and gtfo. He sees it as confirming "yeah this guy is gonna be good" If you want a good team you need a dynamic like they have, in just about any serious field. Sadly a lot of employers don't know what respect is and think its fear/total submission be their bitch. You can find tons of those employees... they will do the minimum.

In the real world, if such a situation arose, Harvey would have hired mike on as a paralegal, and Harvey and Jessica could have lobbied Harvard into letting Mike go to school there. Companies or a firm, in this case, generally do this with a contract guaranteeing a set amount of years of that person's future employment. I’m gonna drop some knowledge for everybody watching this scene. Life is not always about your resume or what school you went to….it’s about being somebody, and I mean believing who or what you wanna be. Even if you aren’t, it’s about selling yourself and acting like the person you wanna be even before you are that person. Fake it until you make it, I’ve gotten great and amazing jobs by being an amazing salesman and selling myself better than any other applicant.

This pilot, and the initial premise of the show, were great. Law school students can appear on the record in court under the supervision of a licensed attorney. All Harvey had to do was hire him as a paralegal to start, use the firms power and influence to get him into Harvard, and then have him practice as a summer associate until he graduates and can be a real attorney. This was one hell of a TV series, a powerhouse of acting. I think this show was so good that they can have spinoff for every single character, even for "the names on the wall".
