Mike isn't kissing ass. I mean that one Harvard grad was smiling at him the other gave a head movement like "sup!" Harvey doesn't respect someone who is just gonna be a little puppy. Literally what made up his mind was Mikes comment about "sometimes I like to hang out with people who are not that bright" which some would consider rude and gtfo. He sees it as confirming "yeah this guy is gonna be good" If you want a good team you need a dynamic like they have, in just about any serious field. Sadly a lot of employers don't know what respect is and think its fear/total submission be their bitch. You can find tons of those employees... they will do the minimum.

In the real world, if such a situation arose, Harvey would have hired mike on as a paralegal, and Harvey and Jessica could have lobbied Harvard into letting Mike go to school there. Companies or a firm, in this case, generally do this with a contract guaranteeing a set amount of years of that person's future employment. They pay for education, and that person agrees to work for them for a set amount of years after they graduate. It's a win-win. But Fraud makes for better TV.

@@scottmcdonald2113 Assuming that Harvey Specter or one of the top Firm associates didn't have a single contact in any law school in the country to overlook that . . . sure lol. It's really not that complicated. Which ahem, believe it or not, Colleges want money. It's why so many 'kicked out' students find their way back even to the same college that kicked them out in the first place. SOME college would have taken him in. Some law school would have as well. It's not a crazy idea to think he could have went to a community college first, then completed his 4 year degree at some random college and then gotten a law degree. There are plenty of people who get caught cheating. . . using plagiarism etc who could find themselves at another college. Don't discount people's willingness to help insanely 'gifted' people as well. IRL, Harvey would have just told Mike, 'let me call some people' and yeah, he'd be then on his way to college. Well, he was knowledgable of the theoretical parts, but real life is much more complicated than what is taught in schools, books etc.

Actually even after the first episode we saw him using his super amazing memory and multiple occasions... Ofc tho applying that knowledge in his job was hard at times..

This is the best pilot episode ever. Man, I wish the rest of the series held up to this.

You know I'm all for art is subjective and personal choice should be respected & all that stuff. But anyone who talks shit about suits deserves a public stoning in Arabia😒

The rest as they say, is history. Certainly one of the best on screen friendships since Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Older video but I have to say this was one of my favourite concept shows I've ever seen- the idea that someone could be great at something without a piece of paper making the claim on their behalf... Harvey and his intense yet pompous disposition... Donna (for the first couple seasons anyway)... the tension. Was awesome. But I think out of all of it this was my favourite episode for exactly this scene.
