The funny thing is that throughout the series we can see that Laufen has a lot of hand to hand combat skill, and her magic only amplifies it, so she could probably have taken those two guys easily without mana, but denken was like "nope, I'm not sending this little girl to a brute fight, come on Richter, let's get our faces bashed"
