Just finding out Melanie has passed away. She was one of my true favorites. I have every album she ever made, which is around 30 albums. She never gave up writing, singing or her poetry, she traveled through Europe and did concerts all the time (she was very popular in Europe more than US) she continued until she passed. I'm now in tears..

@@brainsqueezereactions Melanie was a lovely soul who sang about peace, love, compassion, understanding, relationships and life's struggles., I hope you'll delve into more of her songs. There is a song of hers titled "Do you Believe" and there is a live version of it from the Old Johnny Carson show, where it's just Melanie, her voice and her guitar. It's from one of Carson's early 70's shows, you can find it easy on youtube.. It would be lovely if you could react to that song and dedicate it to Melanie..Thanks for responding to my comment I love your style! No pretentions!!😎

Tell you a little story Shortly after this song came out. My mother brought it home on A45I could never get enough of it. I'm even over the years. I'll go back to it and it just brings tears to my eyes. I love her voice. I love the music that she's done in her life. And it's saddened me to think that she died this year. January 24th 2024. She was 74 years old. What a great singer song writer. Also married to Jimi Hendrix for a little while. Who she met and said he was her protector at Woodstock. It's one hell of a music career this woman had. And she'll always be in my mind, always be in my thoughts.

I think this is from Dutch TV. I went there a few times, when I worked for aerospace. Lots of the people are bilingual or speak even more languages, but particularly English. They would have British artists come over and carry out interviews, in English, with the presenter. At random points, they would break off, and translate the previous conversation into Dutch, for those who were not following.

while mentioning Woodstock, you should check out Santana's "Soul Sacrifice" from that festival. This was before the band had an album out and nobody outside San Fran knew of them. Its a mind blower (for more than one reason). 1969 i know, but they became a big 70's band and later a 00's reconfigured band.

Such a joy to see young folks enjoy music I and many others listened to and reveled in when the songs were actually released. I used to often ask myself, "I wonder what my next favorite song is going to be?" Melanie passed from us 2 weeks ago. Lovely person by all accounts. Clever, witty, humble, and profound musician. She is just wonderful. I love your enthusiasm. She is expressing her experience performing at Woodstock where she worried all day she would bomb only to blow every one in attendance away. Fabulous. She would have loved you!

I favor the Greatest Hits studio version for one reason only! It runs 8+ minutes, and she's singing melody and harmony lyrics together, puts chills down your spine! And from the lyrics, the Staples just drive you higher and higher! It is a complete spiritual high. In the right frame of mind- how could you not!- you can feel from your feet to your head lifting up and off the floor! Aside: I've seen more modern pictures of her, and she hasn't lost a trace of her youthful passion, plus a smile to die for! Congratulations to finding this gem!
