Antagonist for more like that. The reason why I'd reccomend Cypher, is cause in the video. You can see that he hasn't grown into his skin yet. He was Lil, but he wasn't dicky yet. And seeing him perform from that perspective is awesome.

The whole Russell Westbrook section was a metaphor to Dicky's life. In reality, Westbrook grew up in the spotlight (UCLA) and played basketball forever. In the track, Dicky is saying what if Russell was on a farm, knew nothing about basketball, only cared for the farm, and then one day discovered basketball. When he discovered it, he loved it. It was fun. Then, it got serious bc he got attention for being amazing at it, and eventually it became his career (OKC) and he left the farm. Dicky (Russell) was on his farm (comedy) and discovered basketball (rap). He tried it and he loved it. He was really good at it, and he blew up (ESPN, OKC) and then it ended up being his career. He left his farm behind (comedy) to pursue basketball (rap).

@nickjohnston2536 Жыл бұрын
Alot of his early songs and first mixtape can't be "mainstream" or on mainstream platforms because he doesn't own the rights to the beats and whatnot. This beat is a drake/jay Z song pound cake. Likely used known beats as a way to draw attention to his music by selecting very popular beats that were massively successful while also having a chance to highlight his lyrical talents and prove he is as lyrically talented as some of the best rappers by taking on the challenge of rapping on such prolific beats. It's a calculated risk to bring attention to his music and launch his career

More real songs of him: "Lil Dicky - Molly" is about a past relationship of his and how he had to break up with her due to his pursuit of his rap career. "Lil Dicky - Make Belief" is about how people thought he would never be great, but that he'll prove them wrong and disses the other rappers who all make the same type of music and he is unique. "Lil Dicky - Professional Rapper (ft. Snoop Dogg)" is about how he wants to be great and knows his own potential, but is still new to the game and learning. You should also react to "Pillow Talking". It is kind of a funny song, but it hits on a ton of general controversial issues or differences between people.

Yo LayedBak. This song speaks to me on a personal level. I have yet to find that passion for the thing that I love. I don’t even know what that is. Just listening to the song gives me goosebumps. Especially the “Who’s taking care of my farm?” At the end. Reason being because the way I interpreted it is that through all the fame and wealth he’s got, he still remembers where he came from and misses it despite all the success.

At this point, I've watched so many Lil Dicky reaction videos it's embarrassing BUT the reason I do it is for the reactions like yours. Looking at the meaning behind the lyrics, even on the songs with joke bars. I come back to this one all the time because we can see you listen to every single word, we can see you react to the BAR bars with a head shake, "facts", or "ooh", AND you still let him finish what he is saying before you pause. Most reactions hear that BAR bar and pause it to explain it to us, but that's all they do. They don't apply it to themselves or the viewers, they just explain LD's intent behind it. You let him finish the current chapter of the story before you pause it, and then you explain the BAR bars along with the theme in a relative way. You touch on LD's intent behind it, but then you expand on that. You bring in your experience, your life, and how that chapter applies to you. By doing that, all of us can find ways to do the same for ourselves. You're literally teaching how to do it. The whole concept of "my plan was to do this, but then I saw that" is something every person can relate to whether we stuck with the safe and "this" or went all-in on the risk and "that". And you go out of your way to point that out, while the other reaction videos just point out why we see you shake your head in respect or say "facts" after some bars. Appreciate the hell out of this and the channel man

Lil Dicky is going to be a name we hear *very* often in the future. He's gaining recognition now like never before but, he's still not universally known; like Kanye, Drake, Jay-Z, or 50 Cent (just going off of numbers/recognition). His talent is ridiculous. I've been following LD since around probably 2013, when he dropped tracks like Ex Boyfriend and Classic Male Pregame. Between the rhyme scheme - which is almost like East Coast/Boom Bap meets Modern/Contemporary Rap (like the Migos, particularly in Save Dat Money), along with his skilled use of similes and analogies, *PLUS* a skilled Comedian/Actor and Co-Creator....this dude is going to be around for a long while.
