Well, I couldn’t wait to make this, so I started almost immediately after watching it fit. My first practice block them together. Perfect. After that I got lost. None of my squares match. So the next time I make this and there will be a next time. I’m going to make one four square block at a time.
@70acres Жыл бұрын
You can do it, Ellen. Just do 4 blocks at a time until you get into the flow of it. I did the first 4 blocks and then I cut and stacked the rest of the layer cake 4 at a time. I was amazed at how fast I blew through it. Thanks for watching!

would you re-tell me how many pieces to move around when cutting 4 at a time. I know you moved the big square, then left the next two alone and then I lost you for the rest of the block. Definitely going to try this
@70acres Жыл бұрын
Hi Elaine, thanks for watching. You can do whatever order pleases you. You want to switch out a different fabric for each round. If stacking 4, leave one of the rounds alone, put the top piece at the bottom for the second round, put the top two pieces at the bottom for the third round and then take the last one on the bottom and put it on the top for the fourth round. I hope this helped.

I have them stored in other buildings and still have some in my NY house. I think I'm up to about 24 machines. In fact, I have one just behind me here in the dining room! They are everywhere! 😀😆😁

What are the measurements of the pieces of the quilt blocks. Ida
@70acres Жыл бұрын
Hi Ida, thanks for watching. If you go to 3:00 I tell you the measurements. We are using a layer cake, which is 10" square, and we are **slicing off 2" strips, rotating 90º and slicing off 2"**, rinse, repeat. The first slice is 10" x 2", the next slice is 8" x 2", the next slice is also 8" x 2". Just follow along with the video and the instructions will be clear.
@shirleyring1065 Жыл бұрын
Could you please tell me what size quilt this makes. Thanks much.
@70acres Жыл бұрын
The blocks are trimmed to 8.5" unfinished. If you do the layout I show, the 4 block units should be 16". I don't "make a quilt to a specific size. I make blocks until it looks big enough. I can't sew/quilt large quilts because of physical limitations so I shoot for a throw or baby quilt size. You should be able to get 2 baby quilts or one throw size quilt out of a layer cake. Thanks for watching, Shirley.
