I love this bass, drum, sample foundation.

Thanks! I'm patiently re-working this, building around this foundation with cleaner samples to fill the higher frequencies. Peace!

Your beats already sound pretty melodic... With your sensibilities - it would be so much fun to see you do more of these Synth videos....might start sounding like movie scores!

Groovy homie 👊🏿. Quick off topic question. How's band camp been to deal with? I'm thinking about dropping a tape on that site. Thanks.

I love bandcamp. Very transparent, great analytics, and a solid community. Nothing but positives. You can drop all types of merch, too. Hope this helps.

Thanks bro. I really overdid it with lots of dissonant notes, cluttering the mix, but I know what to remove to make this work.

That was a fun one. Cool beat. Love seeing young E behind the pads. What's the red and yellow lit machine in the rack?

Thanks man. I messed this mix up, but it'll work once I finish it off. I think that's the summing mixer.

@@eddieleonard6925 cool. I didn't realize you could rack it. Funny side note, a video just popped up in my feed titled something like "can you use a summing mixer in 2023?" Lol. I don't think people realize that real artists, real creatives can work with anything at anytime.

I know your beats still have a hip hop feel but they aren’t the typical, how long did it take you to get to place where you didn’t care to try to replicate what everyone else did but just what felt good to you?

Great question, fam. Honestly...I've always loved weird beats. But for the first 8-10 years, all I did was mimic and copy the greats. Then I stopped trying to release music and simply made for fun, and that's when I started to really enjoy it. Sampling is a unique, post-modern art form that has limitless possibilities. Even if nobody listens to this stuff or buys it, it's incredibly satisfying to engage with the art-form. I feel like I haven't even started actually creating yet. Still learning. How about you?

@@eddieleonard6925 that’s what’s up man! I just REALLY started taking beat making serious at the start of the Pandemic but I’ve already learned it’s the creative part I enjoy, the part that comes after the beat is made where i have to mix and all that is where i typically give up. Lately I’m struggling with sampling bc I feel like I’m looking for the samples that sound like what the greats or KZbin goats would use and I skip over stuff I actually connect with bc it doesn’t sound like what I’m “supposed” to be trying to make. Gives me this weird beat making anxiety I can’t shake. Your videos are therapeutic though man and inspire me to make whatever i feel and not chase a “sound”

@@fade2blak91 No two producers will ever flip a sample the same way. I'd say trust your gut and find your own sound. May get messy along the way, but at least you won't sound like everyone else who just plays copycat instead of trusting their ear

This forgotten sampling technique is the secret to great layering
