I am genuinely blown away. Knopfler is the reason I started playing guitar, and I thought this would be a funny parody. Nope. At several points I forgot you weren’t covering a Dire Straits song. Your tone, your accents and flourishes all feel so true to knopfler, and the drums and vocals fit perfectly as well. Kudos, man.

Honestly, started this as a hate watch because I love Dire Straits, and can't hear Layla without hearing Ray Liotta saying "when they found Carbonne in the back of the meat truck, it took em three days to thaw him out just to do the autopsy." I'm a bit of a fan of both. This, Sir, was brilliant: a truly wonderful reimagining of a wonderful song in the style of another wonderful song.

It sounds great and I'm impressed how friendly it sounds. The original is legend because of the way it would be produced. You have shown that with the typically sound of dire straits everything can sounds like dire straits. 👍🔊

I don't like when people sum up Dire Straits to be the Sultans of Swing band. Marks tone, feel and writing abilities are so much more than this. With that being said this is a great video

I have to level with you, at first I was against you. I usually hate these types of videos but I watched it twice, not only are you so tight in the pocket you have Mark’s tone done and his vocal patterns this is a 10/10 performance bravo my guy

The chords in the chorus sound almost exactly like the verses in “lady writer”. I never put the two together but it’s uncanny

That was Amazing!!! Eric and Mark both would be proud! I never understood why Knopfler never did a cover of Layla anyway. Stevie did Voodoo Child and blew it away. Knopfler is one of my favorite guitarists of all time!
