The best part about docs is I can link directly to tasks and lists from around my workspace. The most difficult thing is trying to organise or manage the docs. Where should they live!? They really clutter up the sidebar. Anyway, great video! I'm just moving my CV over from Notion to ClickUp 🙂

Visually, I agree. But tags are a good alternative. See 12:30
@willhelliwell2 жыл бұрын
@@actiniteviewer I’ve not found tags to be very useful. In the end I’ve made a docs folder, then created “tasks” to get all the custom fields and attached docs to the tasks.
@christinahhooper2 жыл бұрын
The biggest reason we stopped using them was because our clients and their teams weren't able to comment or edit the docs like you can with Google Docs. We tested it for a bit since we produce blogs and things for clients and the doc being right there on the task was super convenient for us, but the user experience was bad since our clients couldn't even comment if they wanted things changed.
@willhelliwell2 жыл бұрын
How come they couldn’t comment?
@christinahhooper2 жыл бұрын
@@willhelliwell they weren't users in our account and didn't have permissions to comment or edit. Google Docs lets us share so anyone with the link can edit without having to log in.

@@christinahhooper ah got it. Yeah I can see how Google is super useful there. Didn’t realise ClickUp Docs couldn’t do that

Hey Christina! Just catching up on comments🙈 I completely understand that! We use Google Docs for some tasks for that exact reason.

I have such a hard time with using docs because there are no folders... it makes me really anxious to look at a few rows of docs and not being able to know where they belong, at a glance. I really hope they improve on that!

Hopefully 3.0 will resolve this when it comes out.

That’s where the labels (tags) come in. If you would, for example, put a Doc in a “Tutorials” folder, apply a “tutorials” tag. Then you can filter all Docs with that tag. The beauty of tags or labels is that a document can have more than one label whereas folders tend to be limited to one folder per note.

Hey Evelyne! Just getting caught up on comments🙈 What Cidalia shared is a wonderful solution!

Thank you very much for your video. It was so complete! We have been using ClickUp Docs to create our internal wiki but permissions can be difficult to manage (especially if it's an all-or-nothing scenario). Also, I'm unsure if there is an option for breadcrumbs for docs or how to enhance the search bar option to help you navigate better through all these docs (even if they are bound together by a clear hierarchy).

Hi. great video. thx. I do have an issue when exporting doc with task in to pdf. I don t see those task visible, but "private + link" instead of them. Is there a way how to have the Task name in a pdf export? Thx
@LaylaPomper Жыл бұрын
Hey! Great question! The reason you see "private + link" is that you have to have access to the task via sharing and permissions to see the task name. To see the task name, you would have to type out the task name instead of linking it or @mentioning the task. Hope this helps!

I am a ClickUp newbie, and since I have so much information in Notion, it makes sense to bring over relevant Notion notes into ClickUp Docs to group together with and link to relevant tasks, no?
@LaylaPomper Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Great question! Depending on the size of the notes, remember that you can use task descriptions and long text fields as well. If your notes are SOPs or essential information, you can also store them inside tasks and link the relevant tasks together. The reason for suggesting this is that the Docs feature can sometimes be inconsistent. So to ensure you don't lose any data, keep a backup of notes in a task or use tasks to store notes and the link via Relationships. Thank you Lyla for this tutorial!, I'm trying to create an onboarding wiki document, but I found an item call "Doc 1" every time y set the location to my destiny space. Is there any chance to get rid of that?, may be hide it or something?. In your video just only appears the new document in the hierarchy structure, no "Doc x" item. Thank you!!

Hi! I would suggest trying to using the "..." to Move the Doc to the location you'd like. If it still doesn't move properly, I'd contact ClickUp to see if there might be a bug! Their email is help@clickup.com.

Hi! Thanks for the video, it helps :) I have a question: Can we use a formula within the docs? Like any calculations which we usually do in excel (=A1+B1)! OR can we only copy-paste the calculated numbers from excel?
@LaylaPomper2 жыл бұрын
Great question! Currently, the ability to use Formulas inside Docs is unavailable in ClickUp. There is a feature request I found in Canny for calculations in Docs (clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/calculations-in-docs). Feel free to add your vote if you'd like to see this implemented. It's not ideal, but copying and pasting calculations into the Doc would be the alternative solution until a similar feature is added.

Can anybody help? At 13.54, Layla mentioned one can move the secret page into a separate doc, so it is not shared. Is this possible? I couldn't find a way to move pages to docs, and docs to pages. Seems like it is not interchangable - levels of doc and page.?

Ah yes! Pages and Docs aren't interchangeable in a drag-and-drop sorta way. However, you could move a page from Doc A ( a public doc) into Doc B (a private doc) by Moving the Page. :)
