Looking at the pictures of the condo on the website is just very eerie. Just knowing that Layne was sitting on the couch dead to a flickering TV is just haunting. I know that it's not the same couch obviously, but it's the same room. That being said, I would love to live there. It's beautiful.

It's heartbreaking seeing where Layne reclused himself and passed away. I know the pain of heroin addiction VERY well and it's a long, hard road that many of us don't see the end of alive. Layne will always be my God❤️

I think he was pretty unrecognizable as himself when he lived there. As I've saw photos of him in the last few years of his life, and he wasn't recognizable. So maybe neighbours didn't know who he was till after he died, but I had read somewhere they said he was a quiet unassuming guy who never bothered anyone.

I couldn't imagine what he looked like cause if he looked the way he did in 98 its just mind blowing that he lived another 4 years like HOW COULD IT GET ANY WORSE is the question I'm after cause those 2 pics of him in 98 had to be the shape I've ever seen any hard core drug addict in I guess its cause where he had plenty of money he had plenty of access to his 2 favorite drugs crack and heroin but yeah I think that's how most people get clean is because they go broke long anuff or they lose contact with they're dealers long anuff to get sober I'm glad I've never done any hard drugs I just stick to my cannabis and psychedelics. 🌈🌺✌ flower power for life y'all RIP Layne Staley 1967-2002

It's almost like he thought to deserve to waste away the most slow and painful way.. Or that it would be the best option out of impossible others... I kind of understand being torn between the wish to leave everything behind and end alk that shit as fast as possible, but feeling responsible to stay alive, because the family shouldn't have to deal with any more pain...and even load more guilt to your bill... But he kind of made his decision, by not making any desicion. Not taking steps to get sober or at least stabilize, nor to purposely taking too much, hoping it does the job...He was just waiting and kind of stretching the time he had left unt his body gave up "accidentially"...To at least safe his family from adding even more pain they'd possibly experience by suicide or doing it too "obvious"... What made it somehow incredible sad and some sort of brave at the same time. At least that's how I see it. So fucking sad, what a beautiful, talented kind soul, that felt so hopelessly lost. R.I.P. Layne Thomas Staley. Thanks for endless nights of music that kept me listening and here, when nothing else would.

@@janedoex8345 what a beautifully written post. I can say I feel exactly as you do; it haunts me the way he lived and died. To experience such highs and such lows in 34 short years, it’s terribly painful to me. I wish I could’ve had some power to save him from himself. It breaks my heart to know he suffered so desperately, alone, for so long. His music has found its way into my bones.

I was a crack user for two years, from 2010 to 2012. I only stopped when a friend committed suicide. We were very close since we were teenagers and that shook me to the core. So much so that I didn't even need to be admitted to a rehab clinic. I stopped alone.
