Pretty his sure this Dr guy was criticised by members of the band and others for his methods. On one hand he is supposed to be a healthcare professional, helping these addicts and whatnot. Then simultaneously plugging/selling his show, with as much controversial, headline-grabbing, yet highly personal, heartbreaking details as possible. Yes, the celebrities agreed to take part, but things could have been done in a different way. With more thought, care and professionalism. Not just before and during production, but with vital aftercare and supervision/contact. Sadly in the entertainment industry there's a certain way of doing (and not doing) things pretty much throughout. A murky, negligent and literally cut-throat business.

I'm sure regardless of what he said,Mike still stayed strong knowing his friend saved his life,I saved a friend's life in my driveway,I literally did the shit with him,walked in my house,was gone 60 seconds and he was out cold,had no idea how to do cpr,except memories from high school which was 30 years ago,but I kept at him,didn't give up,worked on him for almost 15 minutes before the ambulance arrived and pronounced him dead,30 minutes later he called me to tell me he love me,and thanked me,had I just called the medical and waited for them,he may have suffered brain damage,not to count the other physical damage,but keeping air in his lungs and heart moving blood,he pulled through,yes he is right,we need professional help in those situations,but if your with someone and this happens,don't panic,call 911,and do your best to keep them alive until they get there,and if they do wake up,don't let them hit no more dope,make them drink water and plenty of it,give them vitamins,and if you can get them to eat,folks don't understand,don't matter how many times you've done it,or for how long,an od can occur off a small amount,or the wrong mix of drugs,my suggestion is to get off the shit,get help,get clean,it may be fun at the moment,but eventually your just doing it to function normal and not be sic,it's no fun then,and a lot of us don't make it out,I'm going on a two year clean run,and I pry that demon never conquers me again.if you need some advice or want to no how I am doing it,message me back,and I will be glad to share my story.

The story of that Rio de Janeiro show gets deeper. Layne was ROUGH in that show, but Mike didn't seem to be performing awful. I knew the band partied hard with Nirvana the night before and Layne was 10 kinds of hungover trying to perform. His voice was totally blown out from sticking coke up his nose so he could have the energy to perform.

Why didn't Dr. Drew ask him why Mike wanted to call 9/11 the day before Layne died? What was happening?
@destructor.935 жыл бұрын
Rene Rodriguez It wouldn’t have been because anything in particular was happening-Layne was in very bad shape in the end, the drugs had just taken a hard toll on his body and it was failing him. I’m not going to get graphic about what happens at that point, but suffice it to say that he was very sick and had been for a quite a while.

Dr Drew your wrong Layne did save Mikes life and I think it’s bs that you said that to him! My heart breaks for Mike I think he carried a lot of guilt with him about Layne yeah he didn’t call 911 but my opinion Layne didn’t want to me saved he had gave up on life long time ago! R I P Mike now you and Layne can rock out in heaven together! It sounds like Mikes Dad should be the one now living with a lot of guilt! Mike Starr you were a beautiful human!

When he said he feels naked without Layne that is so sad look at some old videos of them you can see how much Mike loved him 😇

Late reply. Not sure if you'll see this. It seems quite a few Doctors and so-called medical professionals have little to no clue about certain things. They go by books and training, but lack true, life experience. Some of this would obviously be impossible (and highly unrealistic to expect) without them being addicts, drug users, mentally ill, breaking bones, infected, or whatever they are attempting treat. Kinda like how many managers and executive types have never done the groundwork/manual labour/"getting hands dirty" etc. On paper they believe they are correct or at least know better than their patient, but they have almost certainly never experienced what they are attempting to treat. So when they say a certain substance will do this and that, or in this instance, how Layne went about reviving his friend wasn't right, he is either speaking from an official, medical perspective and/or a stubborn, personal, pessimistic one. There are cases of "stillborn" babies being held by their mothers and coming to life (along with other amazing maternal instincts etc). I bet medical journals and those old, hot-shot doctors would say it's impossible, yet it happens. Hopefully Mike didn't feel that because Layne saved him, he had let Layne down when he passed away. Like he owed him the same. Had Mike called an ambulance and Layne been given medical attention, it still may have been in vain. It sounds as though he was in really bad shape and had been that way, (or getting there) for some time. Thanks for the music Layne and Mike. I'm sorry how things ultimately ended. God bless, both and all of you guys

How can you tell someone that someone they loved so much, didn’t save their life?! Just leave it be!! Let him think what he wanted!! I guarantee that after this, he felt like shit because of that fucking statement!!

I agree! Dr. Drew was wrong to say that.

"He should have called 911," he says lol forgetting almost IMMEDIATELY that they were in a hotel in SOUTH AMERICA! What's 911 in South America anyway? Do THEIR paramedics know, if the response time is even adequate, how to save someone from dying of an overdose?! Suboxone saved MY life. It was the ONLY thing that worked for me, and I haven't shot anything since November 5th 2016, after being a junky on the streets here in Seattle for the previous 5 years. In Everett, Washington, they won't even take a heroin addict to jail for a warrant unless it's a felony arrest, because so many people have died in custody in the Snohomish County jail recently. Both Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain died on my birthday, April 5th. and the only real, "silver lining," that's come from it is now, every year on April 5th. the local ROCK radio station KISW plays only Seattle music for the entire 24 hour period. So, I get pretty unique and special birthday, "theme music," lol in the background every year. But I would trade anything, especially that, for both of them to have been actually, "saved," by their friends. And Mike Starr's birthday is one day before mine, but he's sadly gone now, too. 🎼🎶🎵
