I love love 💗 your work! There is such a childlike spontaneity to it that makes it happy and vibrant. I am learning from you how to approach my work with fewer expectations and just enjoy the process, even when the results are not a masterpiece.

Really interesting, Koosje. I don't know how I can get around my problem (or is it a problem?) I only draw on one side of the paper in my sketchbooks. I can't bring myself to draw on the back of a page. I can draw across pages. Is it because I think my drawings are too precious? 😂

Sometimes when someone opens or Sketchbook and I see a layout that spans both pages with one frame I find it so much more interesting than something drawn on only a single page. Look at some others Sketchbook Skool and find these pages. Then try yourself. I think it adds another dimension to what we can do as artist to create Interest with balance and imagination.

You do whatever feels right in your sketchbook. If you like to have the ‘backs” of the paper empty, because of compositional of cosmetic reasons, that’s fine. There are no rules. It’s your sketchbook. But it seems like those are not the real reasons - you already mentioned that it could be because you are too precious about your pages. Maybe the pages will shine through or buckle.. well, ask yourself why would that be a problem? If it is because you don’t like the look of it, or because you don’t want to draw on buckled pages, then don’t. More likely it’s because you are afraid to mess up. What’s the worst that could happen? Find the answer to that, and IF it happens, turn the page and do another drawing on the next. It’s just paper. Have fun.

@@KoosjeKoene oh that last part of your sentence made me smile. An old tutor used to say, "it's just a piece of paper". Obviously I've always been too 'precious'. ❤😊 ... Must try harder ...
