Thank you for the tip with joining Code 100 & 75 track together. I have Code 100 track every where except one point that must be 75, because of the drop. So I did what you did (just with the toe end) with the point on top of the fishplates of the 100 track and solder. Great job, so thank you. Love following your channel, well done.

Hi. David. It's always nice to watch one of your videos. I used that Woodland scenics foam, while if it offers a nice ballast shoulder, I would choose to use cork next time.
@dakdak76097 күн бұрын
Why?
@dinmorejunctionmodelrailway7 күн бұрын
@dakdak7609 I've found that as the foam by nature isn't solid, the ballast crumbles of the foam.

Thanks for the update; It's looking good. While it's great to have the facilities at your parents' house, I bet that you're champing at the bit to get the layout settled in your own home. Best wishes.

Enjoyed the video, but why didn't you use a piece of transitioning track instead of soldering the rails together . I've used them on my layout they work fine .
@HorsehayRailwayModeller8 күн бұрын
@@KeithWheatley-o6g Hi there, glad you enjoyed. As I show in the clip,the transition track caused a straight section which was kinking the curve. By soldering the tracks they join on a curve not a straight.

Nice work, but don't forget to cut some expansion gaps in between the soldered track joints. As the layout is in the loft, it will be subject to quite a bit of temperature variation, and the tracks will buckle if not permitted to move latterly. I speak from painful experience.
@HorsehayRailwayModeller9 күн бұрын
@@petertownsend8276 I will be visiting again nearly next month so will most definitely cut expansion joints before the warm weather starts in the summer.

Hi there won't that track bed foam brake down and disintegrated after 10 years ? Spoiling your track work? I've seen that happen with peco foam
@HorsehayRailwayModeller9 күн бұрын
@@charlesduncan3194 Hi there, I believe it's a much more resilient product being a closed cell rubberised foam. I've certainly never heard of woodland scenics foam breaking down and it's been on the market for a least 20 year's according to a quick Google. Thanks for watching.
@charlesduncan31949 күн бұрын
Hi i can't remember where i seen it somewhere on KZbin? So i decided to use cork instead the modern model trains are mostly quiet anyway
@HorsehayRailwayModeller9 күн бұрын
@@charlesduncan3194 I know peco foam has quite the reputation for disintegrating. I'm hoping woodland scenics is fine

Enjoying the build, only negative (and not to do with any of the build, is filming in vertical at the end, I work in media and it breaks my heart when people don’t film in landscape. But great all the same.
@HorsehayRailwayModeller9 күн бұрын
@@chriskelly883 Appologies. I looked at my footage and realised I'd filmed all the running vertical to share as short form content. I could have sworn I'd filmed some landscape too but apparently not. I would have reshot but I only have access to the railway when I visit my parents.
