The grid inspector is available now in the FF Developer Edition.

It is. Actually, it’s available in the regular version of Firefox. It shipped in Firefox Quantum (version 57) in November. I’d recorded these videos in July.

We did this sort of layout fifteen years ago. Yes it was tables and took some time to build, but once done easy to maintain and still works without updates. BUT how to have the layout present the same in iOS?

Yes, tables would allow us to create this layout quite easily, but as you suggest, it would not be responsive. And the HTML would not be semantic, or even logically structured.
