My son has Tourette's. He started having symptoms when he was about 3 or 4. His tics got their worst when he was going through puberty and have lessened considerably since then. I can't imagine him wanting to use his tics as a means of attention. If anything, he wishes they weren't there. It's sad how society has made problems/disorders into social currency. Oh, and I can send you a couple cats. I have 10 (yikes, I know), so I clearly am suffering from tencatism. I had 2 cats pass away over the last year, so I was down to 6. Then we took in a litter of kittens that lost their mom when they were about 3 wks old. I couldn't part with the 3 sisters that are so cute and sweet. Then we also got another litter at about the same time that had 2 kittens, but one died. My daughter wanted to keep the other one, so I gave in cuz I'm a softy. So yep, 10 cats now. It's a bit much, but they are all so cute and I love their little personalities.

I was diagnosed with major depression as a child, which later developed into bipolar depressive disorder. My whole childhood I got accused of faking it, especially by other kids who were OBVIOUSLY faking themselves and it irked my soul. It was extra sucky when those same people would get all this sympathy, clout, attention and get defended at the drop of a hat just for SAYING “i feel so depressed” at the smallest inconvenience, meanwhile I, with years of medical records to prove my case, was treated almost like a villain if I simply acknowledged what I have which i NEVER understood. Its so backwards! When youre a legit case, everyone thinks youre faking it. But when someone fakes it everyone elses falls for it!

YES !! YES YES YES!!!! ITS SO INSANE 😭😭😭 like obviously some diagnoses are pretty difficult to get or take years to get, and some people don't have access to the doctors who could diagnose them, but don't think for a SECOND that is the same as having a diagnosis. just fucking lead with the fact that you're not diagnosed with depression. bc it's so crazy to me. my entire middle school and high school life i had people who talked over me or always complained about being depressed in order to get out of responsibilities on group projects (for example) BUT THEY WERENT EVEN DIAGNOSED WITH DEPRESSION WHICH IS SO ???? like maybe i've just been depressed for so long that i can't imagine my life without it but literally like... how un-depressed do you have to be to not get a diagnosis of depression it's an incredibly easy diagnosis to get as far as diagnoses go. i get "diagnosed" with it every time i meet a new doctor for any health issue. and i have to be like "yea i know :/" . but yeah like ppl that don't have depression faking it are so ??? like it's so fucking easy to get a depression diagnosis if you have it. a mental health doctor can tell. like they can jsut tell bitch 😭 stop fucking LARPing and like cosplaying/role-playing as being mentally ill. it doesn't make you unique or special bruh ur just making those of ur who really DO have dx'ed borderline or somethign seem less credible and make people less likely to believe us. sorry for the rant i just hate tiktok 😭😭

I am almost 15 and I’ve been professionally diagnosed with a lot of crap, and I feel embarrassed just to tell people because of people who fake. The fact that people want disorders is just disgusting, like yesss I love spreading misinformation about something I know nothing about, and romanticize others struggles! Especially making stimming/ fidgeting quirky, which makes fidget stuff banned from schools (and schools are already ableist enough). Don’t get me started on the misinformation about OCD. Long story short, when my OCD was bad, I was in a constant state of paranoia, and now I have to take medication for it. Whenever I talk about my experience people are like “isn’t that when you want everything to be perfect?” “Everyone’s a little OCD”. I just- I don’t even know what to say. I should just sell my problems to the people that want them (I wish).
@adudeandhisdog23 Жыл бұрын
First off I want to say you aren't alone, dealing with things like that is really hard. When terms are generalized it can feel hard to connect. Where you experience the definition of OCD Brittney over here likes to keep her desk tidy and everyone can't relate to Brittney making it very isolated. Terms like, meltdown, panic attack, trauma, traumatized, disassociation, and OCD are all terms that haven't been so generalized I have a hard time saying them in my life because I don't want to be "just another TikTok kid" I have struggled with my mental health severely I've been to the psych hospital at least 13 times from ages 11-15 Secondly your experiences are valid and just because some one else uses a term improper doesn't take away from your experience. I hope you can find your place in this world and yeah TikTok fakers are really hurting people right now Stay strong bromine 💜💙🦋

I’m a teen with anxiety, ocd, tourette’s, and mild depression. it’s absolutely disgusting seeing people actually fake these things, and act innocent afterward. tourette’s is by far my hardest one, having them since i was 5. i was incredibly embarrassed and half the things i did when i was younger i didnt know what was happening. it’s like someone in my head telling me to do stuff i didn’t want to. i would try to hide them, and in 3rd grade i was EXTREMELY embarrassed, especially because at that time, the kids would think it was weird because they couldn’t comprehend what tourette’s was. even some of my closest friends thougth it was fake. depression is also horrible, i’m not going to get into “why” for personal reasons, but at one point you’ll cry yourself to sleep. i was never really at this point, and my depression isn’t too bad. anxiety is bad as well because you second guess everything you do, and think everyone’s staring. one small thing and your leg will start shaking. some of my friends have to start playing games during class and get in trouble for it, even though they’re just trying to control it. this is why teachers need to allow fidgets, or some type of toys or other triggers that will help control it. ocd isn’t too bad, but it ties with tourette’s. i have to keep doing my tics until i do it just the right way for my mind to be happy. it’s not just one movement, it’s multiple until it’s perfect. other than that, not too bad. these are the troubles people like us have to face. if you still have the guts to fake it, then that’s your problem. something obviously happened during your childhood. it’s not okay and not an excuse, it’s absolutely disgusting. this comment is a free vent if anyone needs it. stay safe guys ❤

i have ocd, chronic anxiety, and depression. it is not fun. life with a chronic anxiety disorder is so much worse than people believe it is. sleep does not come easily, you doubt everything you do and are constantly on edge, panic attacks that just rise all of a sudden from nowhere, and nightmares that cause fatigue. i do have an oral fixation and seeing these people just make it even more stigmatized. i feel a need to have something between my molars to release pent up energy from panic attacks. ocd and trich are not fun, you get was made fun of for compulsions and missing eyelashes, eyebrows, or having a bald spot. i’m so sorry you were treated so bad for something you couldn’t control, tourettes is still so stigmatized. wishing you a good life

The sad thing about today's world -- at least here in the US, is that kids and teenagers are being taught to be *proud* of these type of things. They're taught that having mental illness or disabilities give you a free pass to get away with crap and not suffer consequences. They don't know that other kids and people actually struggle on a day to day basis with these type of things. What they're taught nowadays is completely out of tune with the reality of what it means to have these disorders. Keep in mind that these are not things to be ashamed of, but they're nothing to be showing off like a kid with a toy in kindergarten. If you suffer from any mental illness or disorder, you *know* how hard it is to trust other people with that knowledge because you worry about how they'll look at you and what they'll think of you once they know.

Same! I've been trying to get screened but I feel like an imposter because of how "trendy" having mental conditions has become. And the misinformation being spread by the fakers doesn't help either, it just confuses people who don't have it into thinking they do, and people who do have it into thinking they don't. While having a condition should be something we accept, it should not be portrayed as something we want to have.
@cxm3059 ай бұрын
@@wolvie1618depending on what you’re trying to get screened for there are neuropsychological tests done through neurology offices, those are the most legit and definitive i know of. Takes a good 4hrs one on one with the neuro - at least an hour of the test was staring at a computer screen doing different instructed tasks while the dr watched.. it is very expensive even with insurance, not gonna sugar coat that - but if you truly want to know 100% if you have adhd/anxiety/processing/memory issues then i would recommend you try going that route. A regular doctor diagnosing people with no testing is beyond is reckless imo.

As someone with psychotic depression and a high possibility of having asd and bipolar, this entire trend boils my blood so much. I struggled alot with mental illness and abuse, and it's so disgusting to see that this shit has now become not only a trend but a competition for who is more "uwu quirky" or something. Mental Illness is NOT something that should be aestheticized or romanticized. It is serious and debilitating. The worst part about all of this is that this trend has so many reprecussions for EVERYONE. For example, folks who may suspect that they might have a certain mental disorder will feel invalidated or scared to seek help because they will be seen as these disgusting ppl faking it for attention. Or the ppl who already have a full diagnosis would have their needed resources taken away b/c these assholes are using it for attention. This is coming from a personal place because I suspect myself to possibly have something, but I'm not flaunting around like I'm happy about it, I only brlieve that I might have it so I can find the correct resources to help me with dealing with this bullshit. If I could trade it in for a neurotypical brain, I would do so in a heartbeat. But of course, its SOOOO quirky to be unable to communicate properly despite trying, and get overstimulated in social situations, and to feel like you're a sociopath for not understanding/empathizing with others emotions no matter how hard you try, and for having barely controllable emotions that are grossly out of proportion that can hurt others, and for feeling like you're just as terrible as these ppl even though you only want help for yourself because this shit is very difficult to handle alone. So. Fucking. Quirky. Fucking pricks.

This is so true! As someone who actually has mental issues, it makes my blood boil to see kids pretending to have issues to get likes or sympathy. As a person with very severe ADHD and Bipolar Disorder, I feel as if I'm being downgraded because of my disorders and disabilities. Every day, I struggle to wake up or even get out of bed, practice my basic hygiene and even complete simple tasks like cleaning my room, washing my face and eating. I had a cousin who told me she had ADHD. I got so excited because I felt as if I finally had someone who would understand my struggles and pain, but when I asked her what type she had and where she got diagnosed, she told me it was a self-diagnoses. Every day, she would try to do things to get attention and "prove" that she had ADHD, and as I looked at the things she faked (e.g., pacing around or stimming) I looked at myself in distraught. I felt as if she was mocking me, and I felt so disgusted thinking "is this really how I act on a daily basis?"... I constantly tried to cover my disorders up to make me seem "normal", but I would never believe that I would be like the others my age. I can't believe people could take someone's mental or physical struggles and throw it onto themselves for attention and pity.

The chew thing in his mouth is a chew necklace. As a person who sometimes needs to use it for anxiety, this is really harmful and false. I’m not chewing on it at all times like a rogue animal. Some people do need to tho.

As a thirteen year old I am severely disappointed with these people. My friend has severe ADHD and it’s awful for her. And as someone who has OCD it’s really not fun or quirky. I get like awful thoughts all the time about one of my loved ones dying if I don’t do something. I’m ashamed of people my age for doing this. There’s one girl at my school who lies about having OCD and she makes it her whole personality. She’s like “I had to organize this in rainbow order because my OCD told me to!” Like oh my freaking gosh she’s so annoying. Anyways that’s my experience on it. Have a great day and don’t fake mental illness❤

i have just a little bit of both ADHD and OCD. My OCD isn’t really bad, but sometimes it makes me contemplate life, as in “OMG IF I DONT PASS THAT CAR DOWN THE HILL ONE OF MY CATS WILL DIE!!” or something like that and if i don’t pass the car i start to worry and cry. but i get over it knowing its not real. i understand your ocd thing and i hope it gets better for you. ❤

bang on. I am 27, and also diagnosed with OCD and get beyond upset when I open up to people about it, and they start talking about how they have to keep their house clean or make their bed in a specific way. That is not OCD at all, it can be just as you described. It makes me feel ashamed to tell people why I was in therapy for so long. Because ive gotten comments like "what? but your house looks normal and not OCD clean!!" It hurts..

As someone who’s had adhd and RAD ( due from early childhood abuse and neglect ) diagnosed at the age of 4 , with the diagnosis of manic depression at the age of 15 , I would never wish mental health on anyone . This life is exhausting, the struggle to do day to day tasks is overwhelming. Checking and re checking the same thing because of constant fear something bad would happen is not something I choose to live with , faking mental disorders is disgusting and I feel sorry for you .
Since this was 2 years ago I was 10 and I ACTUALLY had autism (and suspected ocd/adhd) and I got made fun of for it so idk tf why these kids WANT disorders it just p1sses me off sm

The fidget toy can be used for anything. To calm you down when you get stressed so someone can use it that dont have an issue but still need it.

As a female with adhd and anxiety, I am offended by these people faking adhd and anxiety. I am 20 and have adhd ever since I was a child. With the song part of her emotions changing, that does not happen honestly, well as far as I know others with adhd doesn't have that happen. But with me, if I listen to music that is new and sounds really good, I would just get goosebumps and go on with my listening experience lol. Music helps me to clear my mind anyways so.

7:51 I actually used to have a few of these, they are basically chewing toys, mainly meant for babies. I LOVE those, but I would destroy them quickly, and it cased me actual pain in my jar from the chewing. They even used to help me prevent self-harming at some point, so hate towards the chewing toys! Bless them!

As a person who has had anxiety and depression since the age of 13 and actually was diagnosed by a professional. This trend is the worst thing that could exist. It completely cancels out those who actually have these disorders and makes it seem like they’re lying when they’re not. Mental health disorders are not funny, and they’re definitely not cool to have. There’s so much more to these disorders then people think.

Hi, ten year old here, I actually have depression and hypersexuality and these other kids that fake all these disorders trigger me SO much, because it’s so hard for me to do anything all day because I constantly feel like garbage and I can never get anything done (also if you don’t know what hyper sexuality is, I’ll tell you, so it’s a mental illness/disorder where you very easily give into your sexual urges, have sexual fantasies that you can’t control and it excessively affects your everyday life, not very fun at all)
