I did CPR on a friend. When I broke her ribs, I cried! (I was also a teen) Thankfully, I had been taught how to give them properly in a middle school health class. Too bad no one mentioned that can happen. No, seriously, I had no idea. I thought police might try to go after me for assault. 😂 The doctor and ER staff commended me and let me know that OFTEN happens when done correctly. Their support and encouragement stuck with me. I went into nursing.

What you said about first watching a child's reaction when they fall, really brought me back. When my kids fell, they'd look at me before reacting so I knew they were OK. I'd just say, "it's OK, you're durable." And they'd get up and go play. When my daughter was little, my mom came over and my daughter fell. My mom gasped and started getting up. My daughter said, " it's OK, I durble" it was so cute! If they didn't look at me and started crying, I'd go to them. But when they looked at me before reacting, I knew it was nothing serious.

When my kids were little we used to cheer every time they fell. Like 10/10 good job kid you did it! That would reverse the initial panic and they wouldn't cry. It was a quick way to keep them calm so we could see if they were actually hurt or just surprised. It worked really well to help them not freak out when they actually got injured. My youngest daughter ended up breaking her leg a couple of years ago and didn't cry at all. The doctors in the ER were shocked cause she was just sitting there saying it hurts but wasn't crying at all. They didn't realize it really was a brake until they saw the xrays and told her she was one of the bravest kid they've ever seen.

My mom did the eating in front of a mirror thing on me and it's legitimately a traumatic memory for me and is still in my mind to this day. She said to watch myself eat and maybe I'll get disgusted with myself and eat less (we've talked about it since then now that I'm an adult and worked things out) but I still won't eat in front of people I'm not comfortable with because I don't want them to see me eat. It's not like I *SHOULD* care about people seeing me eat, it's a problem because I shouldn't, yet I do. Same thing goes for bathroom anxiety. Literally everyone has to use the bathroom. But for whatever reason people with bathroom anxiety have issues using public bathrooms or even sometimes private ones. There isn't a rational thought process behind it. The fear is irrational.

8:51 I’ve heard that referred to as “dad pats” lmao. I assume because that’s how a lot of dads (older guys in general) pet the family dog/cat. There’s a pretty clear difference between hitting your pet and giving them a firm pat. If it’s hurting the animal it’s gonna be pretty obvious. The animal will run away, get aggressive and try to defend itself by biting or clawing, or they will visibly cower in fear. But lots of animals enjoy being pet this way. My cats absolutely love it. They’ll start purring very loudly and if I stop they will start rubbing up against my hand like they don’t want me to stop.

As I understand it, the vagina is a self-cleaning organ; thus, any external 'cleaning' methods are likely unnecessary and quite possibly unhealthy, as they might interfere with your natural processes. In this age of overthinking, sometimes it really is best to just let the body handle things instead of trying to "detox" or "cleanse" ourselves with various methods that suspiciously often involve large payments... and worrying amounts of pain or discomfort.

@nickmoyes70752 жыл бұрын
@@dawidek4267 ED - eating disorder. Anorexia, binge eating disorders, etc. A lot of times these disorders are directly related to a person's perceived body image of themselves (i.e. Anorexia is often tied to the perception that they're fat) so looking in the mirror while eating isn't going to help anything. Imagine having it in your head that you're fat and unhealthy, so you try to eat as little as possible to lose weight, then watching youself in the mirror as you eat food. It can bring a sense of guilt and make you feel worse. EDs can be serious. Some may lead to obesity (binge eating and some others) and some may lead to undernourishment.

So funny that you mentioned getting "Karen-ed" for "spanking" Bear. My mom used to show German Shepherds in obedience trials. I thought it was super rare, so I went to my father and asked if he knew of ectopic pregnancy; he said he did surgery on about 5 patients with that problem and all 5 fetuses expectingly did not survive. One grew in a fallopian tube, had to surgically remove the dead fetus, and some feti grew in the abdomen which all died within 2 weeks due to lack of nourishment.

10:00 One of our cats actually had this! She had 2 kittens, and a couple months after, my parents got her fixed. All was well. Years into her life, probably 8-10 years from then, she started yowling and acting strangely. We took her to the vet and he felt at her abdomen and found a hard, almost felt like a rock sort of lump. They did an X-ray, and what the vet saw he said " This is something you only ever see in a text-book. " Apparently, they found out that during Boot's labor, her uterus ruptured, and the unborn baby slipped into her abdominal cavity. For years, the fossilizing fetus remained unbothered until she grew old and lost weight. Once she lost weight, that was when it started giving her pain. Somehow, when they fixed her, they couldn't find it. We let the vet keep it, because he said it was so spectacular he had to show the other vets.

You talking about the Karen telling you not to hit bear reminds me of my own experience like that. I was walking my dog (she was Staffordshire bull terrier & she was a big girl & very strong) along the high street, someone had obviously been to the takeaway & dropped it all over the ground, while walking by the food my dog obviously thought "yay! Free food!" So when she tried to eat it, I was pulling her away from it (my dog was wearing a harness, not a collar so i wasn't worried about choking her) this woman starts screaming at me from across the street that i shouldn't drag my dog. I just snapped back at her to mind her own business because if she had bothered to look properly she would have seen that i was trying to stop my dog from eating foods with unknown ingredients off the ground. I asked her if i should just let her eat it & possibly get sick. She told me i didn't have to pull her as hard. I simply told her "lady, she's a huge bull terrier that's determined to get to the food, do you want to come over here & try just giving her a gentle tug? Come on over, give it a try, see how it goes!" She stomped off mumbling to herself. I wasn't harming my dog in any way but i had to pull her hard enough to combat her strength. I was so angry i was shaking! To be screamed at by a total stranger was bad enough, but the fact she was accusing me of harming my dog just tipped me over the edge!
@tristan41752 жыл бұрын
I can relate to this so much. I have a Labrador and sometimes i have to use all of my body weight and my arm muscles to pull my dog a few centimeters. I'm 100kg male btw. People often underestimate how strong Labradors are. They're stronger than pitbulls. And they have the biggest appetite on earth for a dogs, since Labradors have a DNA malfunction were they can't feel stuffed after eating lots of food, so they're constantly hungry no matter how much they eat.

Dr Mike, if you’re interested here’s a good one for hyperbaric chambers. My brother in law has cystic fibrosis, and had a double lung transplant. A few years later he had significant sinus issues that his transplant hospital said was caused from the heavy medication post transplant. He then had surgery on his nose/sinus area and then one night woke up swollen and clearly infected. After a quick trip to the hospital he went downhill fast and was immediately airlifted to Sydney from our rural town. He was then sent to Prince of Wales hospital, where he was diagnosed with rhinocerebral murcomycosis (hope I’ve spelled that right). Because he was a diabetic, an organ recipient, already had CF and had a compromised immune system we had a very dire outlook. The doctors decided to try oxygen therapy using the in house hyperbaric chambers. I believe he is the first case in Australia of using this form of treatment, for a CF patient post transplant (maybe CF altogether - I have to check!). After an extensive treatment cycle we went from essentially saying our goodbyes in ICU to just having lunch with him and his new family today. It blows my mind if someone is using oxygen therapy for a seemingly superficial reason, because it saved my brother in law’s life

Regarding the glass shard in the leg, there is a light stitch line about an inch below it, running left to right, so there was apparently some past trauma to that area that is old enough to have a faded and softened scar. I know someone with a similar story. Broken auto glass embedded in his forearm at the beginning of the summer migrated to the other side and came out that fall. It took the entire summer to pass through or between muscles, tendons, and bones to come out the opposite side of his arm. The school nurse was completely at a loss. It didn't take 10 years though in his case.

As the owner of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Classed until about a decade ago as a dangerous dog/fighting dog.) She just loves rough play, so i get that completely. For me is "zoomie taps", finger spanks on her back end with a fast rythm, after about 10-20 seconds she starts chasing her tail or doing 'zoomies' around the house. Its actually a erogenous zone on dogs (male and female), so tapping or spanking their back end is actually pleasurable to them too. (Yes, the same way tapping womens breasts is 'enjoyable' to them.)

Yeahhh my partner's daughter has always been coddled IMMEDIATELY whenever she has gotten the tiniest bit hurt and, while I know my partner is doing it out of love, I think it has contributed to her being afraid to do various activities because she is worried she will get hurt--like, to an extreme degree. She is also VERY dramatic when she does get hurt, although I am sure some of that is her personality. She is steadily getting better at facing her fears of getting injured though....

Had the half of a broken sewing needle embedded in my big toe for two weeks. I thought I had stubbed my toe. Turns out I kicked a needle. When the swelling went down I could see the end of it. Pulling it out was one of the best cathartic things ever. (Also she said that)

Got thrown from a car when it flipped on the highway. Got thrown 40-50 ft. Most painful thing wasn’t the internal injuries, skull fracture, or anything like that… it was the road rash on half my body. Think a skinned knee at 60 MPH. They debrided the burns while I was in a coma but even now it’s healed up for years I still have gravel it healed over and black “tattooing “ from hitting the asphalt with force.

Ever since I came across Dr. Mike's channel, no Wednesday or Sunday has been the same. I am always looking forward to it and get really happy to see that he and his team uploaded. Great job guys! I am beyond proud and thankful for the content you share with the rest of the world. Greetings and best wishes from Germany! Продолжайте в том же духе! Я горжусь!

“Eat slowly” is good advice if they mean “chew slowly and thoroughly” many people don’t chew long enough while eating, resulting in them eating more because they are eating too fast, and their body doesn’t get a chance to tell you “HEY, WE ARE GOOD ON FOOD” seriously works, it helps me eat less that’s for sure.

I love that you love chest compressions i'm almost obsessed with them. I hate when people don't deliver quality compressions. I work in a hospital, i'm not a nurse or doctor but i've assisted in over a dozen of them.

My brother has a cat that loves getting patted on his back above his tail. Doesn't matter if it's gently or a little more aggressive. The moment you stop, he turns and gives you a "Why did you stop?" kind of look.

my dog does the exact same he loves getting his lower back/butt scratched and when i stop he looks offended 😂

A LOT of cats love that spot. There's a nerve cluster there and its easily stimulated. In fact I don't think I've ever met that doesn't like a little butt scritch.

Bear is such a sweet dog, you can see how much you love him. She should have just watches for a minute instead of commenting, and she would have seen that. My dogs, Hunter & Zoey, like being patted on the butt too. Just like Bear, they get excited, because I've always done that as praise. I was at a pet store with Hunter when he was little (he passed in 2019) Someone told me I shouldn't do that too. He had just picked out the toy he wanted, a stuffed alligator, and I was just telling him he was a good boy. SMH.

11:51 No no no no The bouyant force acts upwards which reduces the kettle bells weight and the water resistance is applicable only for slowing him down To improve this, he can do same thing but with the kettle bells ABOVE the surface of the water level

It’s been a really hard year for me battling with depression and anxiety to the point where I had to be hospitalized and I’m pretty sure you’re the reason I got through and still here today! Thank you so much for all that you do! Ps. I want to become a doctor so if you have any tips let me know

Last month, I did not know who either Dr. Mike was and then I realized they were both absolutely brilliant and right about everything but very different things and then just recently. I realized that both Dr. Mike have an amazing sense of humor, but they’re just very different sense of humor and I appreciate them both as God‘s gift to me to convince me to follow them completely and I will learn more than I’ve ever learned before.🎉❤

The spanking is the butt thing seems to be pretty common on animals in general, i have three cats and they LOVE IT
@sauce82772 жыл бұрын
What I don’t understand is why some people don’t think the animal would enjoy pets and scratches more. The spanking thing has to be passed down from seeing their parents doing it or something . No other reason someone would naturally make that habit with their pet over petting(massaging) and scratching .
@Euqoram2 жыл бұрын
@@sauce8277 I mean, it's not really a "spank" it's like a bonk like the animals do when they're playing, and they're just happy that you're making contact with them and messing with them. Petting is more for a relaxed situation unless you're going very fast. If my cat is calm, I'mma pet and scratch him. If he's hyper and wants to play, trying to pet him will get my hand mauled, but he'll take quick scratches, spanks (gentle), and bonks (also gentle) as being played with and it makes him excited.
@sauce82772 жыл бұрын
@@Euqoram Because animals cant bonk each other for a period of time, that isn't a explanation. It logically doesn't translate to what your doing. If it were to translate, it would probably be a poke.... Simply because it isn't natural. From what I can tell, from your comment, yeah, it's just passed down. Thanks for your personal explanation.
