Usually they are boiled to make them softer and the harder ones are ground into a flour for cooking. They even make a pinecones jam that's pretty healthy. But uh... The way he's eating it is like what you do it you have no choice. There's so many ways he could have made things easier on himself and he chose the hardest route.

I find it funny how this dude claims to be eating the "primal" way when our ancestors probably would have had a more plant heavy diet since plants were a much more reliable food source than meat. So basically scientifically speaking the fart comment it's referring to the fact that when you eat primarily meat your body's digestive system well, basically it festers and rots as it goes through your system and it's slower digesting then like vegetables so when you eat mostly meat and you fart you don't fart often but typically when you fart they're extremely stinky. where as when you eat like a whole lot of vegetables and not as much meat it's the opposite you're going to fart often, but they tend to not be as stinky and that's just simply due to the digestive system.
