The Top Ten Vampires of Clan Ravnos

A top ten list of Vampires of Clan Ravnos from the tabletop roleplaying game, Vampire: The Masquerade. The Ravnos were first presented as the Clan with the biggest connection to Gypsies/Roma, because White Wolf really had a Gypsy thing going on at the time. Third/Revised came around and they went from being the 'Gypsy Clan' to the 'Indian Clan with an outcast Gypsy branch.' This had potential, but the Week of Nightmares happened and now the Ravnos are all-but extinct.

There's a lot of weird cultural baggage regarding the Ravnos and their connection to gypsies so I can understand why people shy away from them. That being said the whole trickster thief archetype they embody sounds fun as fuck to play out. Gonna be honest the more I dig into the lore the more I have to accept the Gangrel are only my 3rd favorite clan

@Dantes230 I feel that's a very opinionated perspective. Don't get me wrong, it's your opinion and you are entitled to it, but just their Morality Path alone makes them far more interesting than just mere Hindu or Gypsy vampires. Also, you can play *any* Clan outside the mold. I had a Ravnos choose to run with Gangrels in an attempt to coerce them back into the fold of their original divine purpose and bring the ancient bonds between the two clans back together. He was a wild shaman and was Native American in origin and owned a Casino and Escort service. It's all in the player and the imagination, not just the Clan.

If you read all the Kuei-jin material, and even Yellow Springs and Eastern Little Gods ( Fae of Middle Kingdom) the Ravnos, not even their proper name, are probably the most interesting clan. The prehistory of Wan Xian and 3rd generation, Ennoia and Churka, the bestowing of Chimerstry upon Zapathasura by the Eastern Fae, as a tool to fight the fallen Wan Xian. Ravana becoming a Yama King. And then BOOM, all gone. Week of Nightmares needs more focus, even if its "prequel" setting.

ngl i have no intent on getting into the tabletop game but as someone who is a gypsy traveller reading through the ravnos made me laugh - as well as the arguments about them on forums. someone was crying about how we call non gypsies "gorjas", and mods were on meltdown. still, this lore is kinda cool.

Great video I didn't know much about the characters of Clan Ravnos so this was a very cool video. I agree the Ravnos had a lot of potential which was not explored which is a shame, one aspect that I think could have been explored more was the fact that the illusions created by Chimestry actually effects changelings as if they where real so changeling hunter or liason would have been cool, I had an idea about a Ravnos archon, part of E Division who's job is dealing with changelings for the Camarilla. (it should be noted that in my mind when I mention changeling I am referring to the lost and not the dreaming since I the lost is better and more appropriately dark so if run a chronicle where vampires are involved I usually use VTM and CTL)

@@lazarofstygia2241 It's also because "gypsies/ gypsy" is a racial slur and everything about the clan was highly problematic. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the clan, that was my clan when I played, but I recognize the giant problematic nature of them.

@@loglesby8341 it really depends on the gypsy you ask. over in the UK, we're classified as gypsies on legal documents and a lot of us grew up with the term so it's what we're most comfortable as. I'm personally against getting rid of the word gypsy, but if it had to change they could settle for nomad or some made up bs word. i know i don't speak for everyone but I just find it so outlandishly funny that every stereotype is crammed into one clan; it's like if you made a clan that originates from Africa that loves joloff rice and gold and all live in mudhuts. its so stupidly racist i love it.

So sad that Alexis couldn't belong to (bias alert) the best clan, the Toreador. I implore everyone to have sympathy for those, who through no fault of their own, were Embraced into the wrong Clan. Won't you (literally) open your veins and give generously to those Kindred in their (eternal) time of need. Otherwise, they'll just be forced to recreate the plot of Oceans 8. (In retrospect, the art thief thing might've been a deal-breaker even as a member of the Clan of the Rose).

@@skeletonking4119 The Ravnos Antideluvian died (and so far this is still canon) - they didnt die, but here is what happened. First their Chimerstry got really good while he fought, after death followed by a Frenzy for every Ravnos for the price of one. They diablerized each other till no one was left or so they claim. In Chicago by Night is a character who was formerly known as Ravnos and claims her clan is no more. She is a caitiff without Chimerstry. (I havent read the part yet, but supposedly your choice if she tells the truth, is just crazy etc)

@@rajah300 could be. But he was in a hunger frenzy. So most doubt he would be capable of such a scheme. But any interpretation is valid. I personally wait till we have a real update on the situation of the clan. They are mentioned in Chicago by Night at least.
