It's a streamlined J3a class Hudson, they're rather famous, used to pull all the big name trains on the New York Central, like the 20th Century Limited, The Mercury, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Alco built them, and they were styled by Henry Dreyfus.

J3 Hudson Locomotive of the New York Central System. Named after the Hudson River which is a major River in New York State. She is pulling the 20th Century Limited, a very famous train in it's time. It traveled along the New York Central's water level route which stretched up the Hudson River and west along the Erie Canal to Buffalo NY and hugged the Great Lakes out to Chicago.

This is a J3-a super Hudson built for the New York central in 1937, at American locomotive company,(Alco), at Schenectady, New York. In 1941, 15 locomotives of this class were streamlined to conform to the new Budd all stainless steel passenger cars for the Empire State Express. Few minor changes were made over the years, and some were fitted with the centrals state of the art PT-4 tenders, which were usually made for Niagara's , the Central's other famous locomotives. Somewhere use on the centrals other famous passenger trains, dubbed as " The Great Steel Fleet." These locomotives went through a few different paint schemes over the years also, and we're all scrapped by 1958, thanks to the rise of the diesel locomotive .

This locomotive is a J3-a Hudson, built for the New York Central in 1937, by Alco (American Locomotive Company.) 15 of these locomotives were streamlined in 1941 to conform to the all new Budd Stainless Steel passenger cars for the Empire State Express. It looks like a gothic version of the New York Central Empire State Express. These were streamlined Hudsons (4-6-4 wheel arrangement). Like the Coronation class pacifics, they were normal Hudson locomotives fitted with a streamlined casing. They put a gothic Emire State Express Hudson with 21st Century passenger cars. Idk, its more like poorly made than older model. Also I just saw at the front and it is "The Murcury". Also, nice photo run by.

the new york central 20th centrey limeted was built in the late 1930 for the new york central railroad. it pulled the 20th centrey limeted from new york penn station to chicago. the new york central operated the electric locomotives so the have to swap it the train with the dreyfuss hudson until the 1950s went the replaced the steam locomotives with diesels. as for the j3a locomotive they were scrapped.I did a drawing of the train.

Njc j3a streamlined. A model converted from MSTS. Btw, on all of these conversions the tender capacity for coal and water is screwed so go to wikipedia and insert the proper data into the engine file if you want a realistic capacity.
