i think a HUGE reason many players feel like lazer feels weird is because of offset difference. osu's default offset is pretty bad on most pcs, 20 to 50 ms from where it should be, but many players just get used to it. meanwhile lazer's offset is much better, only -+5ms, but this is very far from the default 20 - 50 offset that stable has

there needs to be options *separate* from classic mod for stuff like the circles fading earlier or the taiko animation always being at the receptor, i think those are just personal preference and dont actually affect gameplay, so they should be in the options menu. theyre like scroll speed in mania

I think it's a minor enough difference that it doesn't need a dedicated toggle. Think of it like this: "Developer, please add this one little feature, a single extra toggle won't hurt, right?" _said a thousand people, everyone referring to different features_

Honestly if there's a description of how stable and lazer "feel" different, I'd say it's something like stable gameplay feels way more choppy but tablet drivers (maybe mouse too but idk) feel more responsive in stable somehow on the same settings. The mouse movement feeling doesn't really change anything imo ppl could probably get used to it in 2hrs. It's like saying fps aim in source engine feels different from aim in unreal engine even if you match your settings, kind of pointless to harp on it though.

I feel like rather then making some of these animation things classic exclusive vs lazer vs stable or whatever just make it a toggle. Both cases are just visual things anyway and people are going to tailor it to what feels good for themselves. Just my opinion though. Actually i think especially the taiko one should just be a option.

classic mod has togles for all of these. they are actually changing game playability so we intentionally put toggles like this in classic mod to hide them from the masses. basically everything in classic mod is "toggles for things that don't necessarily make sense but people are used to."

@@DeanHerbertMooCow i only said that because ( maybe less the std one but especially the taiko one ) literally is 100% visual and doesn't affect anything else. I personally think the new taiko way makes sense but i 100% can see the preference there and since i dont see how it actually affects anything i dont get why it should be gated behind you cant have this visual unless you use the old. I kinda word salad'd that but i think you know what im getting at. I think either lazer just does that visual 1 way period or you have the option to choose for everyone. It being inconsistent doesn't make sense to me.

minor request, is there any improvement for optimization or "less effect" option update for low end computer / igpu in future? i ran Lazer and always laggy (38fps - 50fps) meanwhile stable legacy run perfectly smooth (280fps - 340fps) and thanks for dedications

The new renderer efforts might help with that, so lazer can use a different graphics backend instead of OpenGL in cases where OpenGL driver is just bad.

You simply need to wait, as they had tested lazer and as classical some players exploited scores (somd ppl got 2k or even 3k pp scores) so you have to wait for score resetting (maybe?) and lazer to be released as final(or as stable) to "play more" And lazer will have complete other pp calculator so sliders can be counted as normal hit circles (but actually slider break doesn't break your combo anymore, that's awesome)
