Laz Tips - Whats with all the Hype? How I keep and reuse Hype Stickers

Your one of very few record collectors I've known who shares my level of OCD zeal for hype sticker and original shrink wrap preservation Laz. Kudos! I've always done it the exact same way with the exception of your spray glue brand adhesive recommend, so thanks. Same practice and agreement with your logical reasoning choice of Blake sleeve rounded end over spine for easy reading. ~Jeff

Great vid laz I recently bought deaths leprosy album and I kept .the hype sticker I only collect cds now because vinyl is so expensive here in the uk it’s nice to keep the stickers it’s all part of the nostalgia cheers dean

Elton John's Blue Moves, original Canadian pressing still in shrink with hype sticker. Shrink had very recently practically become deteriorated through the decades and came off. Opened the gatefold first time ever! 😁 luv the Vid Laz!!

What's up Lazerrus! I've been catching up on your last couple videos and it's really good to see you back making videos again. My name was overkillvidz when I started in 2011 and just like most, you were one of the first channels that encouraged me to turn on a camera. Interesting! When I buy records, I peel the hype sticker off and re-stick it on to the new blake sleeve. If it starts to tear, I cut it out and put it in the record "floating around". I'm going to try your technique to reunite some hype stickers back to the front!

I seem to remember you talking about this in some of your older videos except using clear packing tape over the top of the hype sticker to re-stick it to the outer sleeve. That's the way I've been doing my albums but I really dig the spray adhesive technique! Thanks for the vid

The clear packing tape seems like a good idea, because without it your hype sticker is exposed to wear.

Ah yes. Back in the day that is how I started doing hype stickers. This is much easier. Tape you had to get just right. This is a much cleaner/natural look. Thanks bro!

I use Blake sleeves side on too but I have the flap on the same side as the sleeve opening so I don't need to take the jacket out. I also try to stick the hype sticker on it too but don't get too bummed if it rips while trying to get it off. Shrink always goes in the bin. Great video.

Laz..nice tip on hype stickers ...Have you ever had your Blake sleeve rip that had a hype on it and have to take it off and re-apply on a new Blake sleeve ? Does it go on as easy ? Also any issues with rubbing as you take the record out with a hype on it against another record or have them peel off the Blake ?

NO I have not had any tear or start to peel off or have rubbing. I would they key there is not shelve the LPs so tight in a shelf. If you do have to remove from a Blake and reattach to a new one I would think it would be fine. Just recut with xacto blade and reattach. Thanks man!

If the shrink is intact I leave it on non gatefold covers. Gatefolds get a new outer sleeve. Some cool stickers I try to remove from the original shrink and put it on the outer new sleeve. So I do it like you do it.

Wow, I was talking about your famous tips throught the comments of your last video, and I have a new one ! I'm still fascinated by this thing called internet. Hype stickers are a good subject, I also take care of it and liked the way you work on it. According to me it's a part of the package, but not a part of the artwork. An artist has been working for this artwork. Then I remove the hype stickers, I stick it on a spare paper and I place it into the cover. Who would put a sticker in front of an art photo or a painting ? How to remove any kind of sticker would be interesting too. I've never been able to remove those "SAE" stickers from Italy, for example. See you Laz, we're ready for your next ideas.

I LOVE hype stickers! I always keep them on the shrink if I can. But like you, if there’s a reason to remove the shrink I’ll put the sticker on the outer sleeve in the same spot I found it. Cheers!

My thoughts on this: The shrinkwrap shrinks in time so it's mandatory to remove it. The dust may enter inside the sleeve near the seal so I always put the seal on top. The hype sticker may wear in time by pulling the records so I always cut it off and keep it inside the jacket.
