I am in the VV1 workshop but went glamping on San Diego Bay without WiFi for the first 2 weeks so must now catch up! I love watching you with this new paint set. I had a smaller version but gave them to my brother and now miss them. I would love these I’m sure. Would love to see you save the pretty mermaid, that would be a great lesson. This was my first watercolor set in the 36 pan. Absolutely love it !! I know a ton of people that live them as well. I do have others too, Daniel Smith ect but, these are great

I just sat down with my basket of 3 weeks worth of laundry to fold while watching this and it was GLORIOUS. Is it sad that this will probably be the highlight of my weekend? My 3yo popped in and was obsessed with the rainbow mermaid - and so was I. I am living for these sneak peeks at what you've been doing for Virtual Voyage!

James , I have to thank you for introducing me to the hilarious Kath & Kim show! OMG! What a riot, so thank you again from the bottom of my heart. In this horrible time something so absurd ( in a good way ) to watch and escape from the horrible absurdity of the 'trump & pence reality show' well, it's a treasure with many seasons. I will admit that as an American I do have to have the subtitles on! LOL. I enjoy watching your videos and maybe now I know one little thing that contributed to your great personality .

I bought the 24 color set after taking a class in painting etegami in 2016. We painted on Japanese postcards after putting a design on it in sumi ink and the combination was very exciting as I was brand new to painting. I used them for months sending out daily etegami postcards and loved them so much I bought a second set before I needed it not realizing how long they would last. My second set is still unopened! I’ve gone on to use other paints and now you’ve inspired me to take them out again and try them on watercolor paper!

I have used these paints and absolutely Love these for backgrounds they are all really vivid and strong. However I would still use my other watercolours for details. I have bought small versions of them when on sale and have made them into a huge old fashioned paint tin which works for me I never really get tired of the colours they bring out especially the blue green mermaid colours that purple Oh my goodness love it!!

Another beautiful video 😍 I don't know about this particular set, but the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Jackson's carries are marked as vegan. Also they offer some of the colors in open stock if someone wants to try a few without committing to a whole set. Thank you for keeping up with the weekly videos on top of Virtual Voyage ❤️❤️❤️ I'm loving the class and cannot wait for the next 2 weeks!

It must be a crazier hoarder “justification” thing. I bought a huge pack of peerless watercolor sheets thinking the same thing - flat color , travel friendly, easy to use with a water brush. My oldest son had a lax tournament this weekend so we are on the road .... I buy “travel” friendly supplies but then purposely pack the least amount of clothes so the family can’t get upset I bring a giant book bag filled with only art supplies lol

Just for any vegans/cruelty free people out there: while gansai tambi is traditionally made with hide glue, according to several sources including Jackson's list of vegan art supplies, Kuretake's modern version is actually vegan and cruelty free!

Oh no way! That’s good to know - that’s maybe why they’re considered a watercolor of sorts? I would had guessed that the “Carmine” color would have been made from carmine, but it must be a synthetic pigment? In any case, thank you for letting us all know ✨💚✨

@@JamesLukeBurkeCreative No problem! Thanks for being transparent with your viewers about animal products in art supplies - many people would never realize! I think most "carmine" paints are actually just hues nowadays made with pigments like PR176 (Benzimidazolone Carmine, a synthetic organic azo pigment), PR170 (Naphthol Red), PR83 (Alizarin Crimson), PV19 (Quinacridone Violet), etc. Luckily, at least in my experience with watercolor, it's pretty rare that cochineal insects are used anymore 🐞❤️

The little mermaid, and the wizard of Oz, are the two parts of the virtual voyage, I would look forward to the most... if I were on the voyage with you. oh WOW!!!! There was a good review on the Kuretake explaining the binders and how they are traditionally used, on special paper too I think. Sadie Saves The Day is the channel I think I saw that on. She even did a more traditional kind of art with them. Vegans wouldn't like them because of the ingredients.

Sorry to sound stupid, what does “lay down flat” mean?... does it refer to not shiny, or satin?.... or does it mean just a blanket of color, with no light coming through the paper?.. maybe those are the same things!?!.. jeesh!!!.Am I making any sense? ...I actually was gifted that exact same set about 8 years ago, and totally forgot about them, until I just saw this. ...Now I am excited, to dig them out, and get started again (I was caring for a parent who was bedridded until his passing, and just recently felt like starting to revisit some my old favorite channels.....of which you are one! ...(and allowing myself to enjoy things again...so Thank you ,for still being there ❤️)
