While I’m bummed losing out on that 3rd video each week, I completely understand. Family comes first and dialing back is the right thing to do. Been watching you since you first started your channel and you put out some of the best gardening content on KZbin. I’m thankful to be able to watch and learn from you, and appreciate the time and effort you put into your content. Enjoy the time with Brooklyn and the kiddos!!

Not planting Brussels sprouts (although I love them) but def planting carrots this week. Also, don't worry about dialing back on the upload frequency, Travis. We love your vids but I think we can all understand that other things can occasionally take precedence. We'll still be here!!

Hardly a problem with one less (free!) video per week. Like the previous post said, I have learned so much from you. Currently enjoying our second planting of dwarf cowhorn okra, and it might finally be getting cool enough to start carrots. Moved my Conadria fig into the orchard … doing great! Enjoy your time with the kids … they grow up all too fast!

Our Brussels sprouts transplants are hardening off on the back porch right now. I hope to get them in the ground next week, but it depends on our temps next week. We're going down into the 30's this week, but next week we may see low 80's - so it's a guessing game. Thanks for the fertilizer tip with the nitrogen!

I understand cutting back i your kids are way more important than a video. I would love to see maybe a once a month live chat that would be fun.

I didn't even think about doing Brussels this fall. I live in Connecticut and haven't done much fall winter gardening. I will definitely think about it for next fall. and i will follow your tips for the Brussels I plant in the spring. still bummed this year as something came and chomped my Brussels to the ground (baby bunny maybe) Only one plant half way survived and ended up being a trap plant for a bunch of insects so no Brussels this year.

Have you ever pickled brussels at the end of the growing season? Take those little ones, put together a brine with some added pickling spice or dill and let that little jar sit in the fridge for a week or so. Yummy on an appetizer tray

I would like to grow brussels sprouts next year but I think your tips may not apply to me as my northern zone 3 climate is just too different from yours. I have a feeling I would need to top mine for them to fully develop and I will need to find a way for them to survive 100f temps for a little while. Nothin can grow in my -40 dec, jan, and feb haha, I might get soil to thaw during the day in april but realistically may would be as early as they could go outside so they need to be a summer crop and they take a long time to grow I believe. Hope you still enjoy YT, cutting back now should be no issue for people as you have plenty of great videos they could rewatch when they need a Lazy Dog fix or info on a specific topic. Thanks for letting us know, and hope you and your family have a great day.

Hey buddy I just appreciate all of your videos new and old when I need to remember when to get something going. I do have an off topic question about figs. My tree I planted this spring just now put on some pea sized figs I’m in Ms should I just let them go or what do I do with them planned to prune when it died back

I'm trying again to grow Brussel sprouts. I will next year grow them separately and then transplant. This year, as well as last year, I grew them by directly sowing them and had very little success.

how many weeks before planting out do you start your brussel seeds?
@LazyDogFarm

I'd aim for 4-6 weeks roughly, just depending on how hard you push them.

I am planning on planting the carrots this week. I may have to sift my soil to make it nice and loose. Once the carrots are up a few inches, would you recommend mulching them with leaves or straw to keep out the weeds?
@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm 3 ай бұрын
You can if you struggle with keeping the weeds at bay.

I tried Brus. Spts. this year first time. The cabbage butterflies/worms got the leaves. I did a little bit of caitlin clay, but gave up. They are starting to form sprouts, but we'll see what we get. I only have a couple of weeks left before frost. Might check out if I can cook up and eat the leave tops. Anyway, did you watch The Lions kick the Cowboy's ar$es Sunday? How'd your little attended grapes do? I LOVE grapes! REAL ones.
