Can MARVEL MYSTERY OIL Really CLEAN Your Diesel Fuel System?

I did the Gm cleaner on a LB7 twice and let it hot soak overnight about 1/2 way through the second bottle without hooking back up the tank lines, so it sat and heat soaked with the cleaner in the lines and injectors overnight, then ran the last 1/2 bottle the next day, it put the injectors back within spec. This was with about 120k on the clock and I ran the truck another 50k+ miles and sold it still within spec and running great. During my ownership starting around 50k I added in several different fuel additives in probably 90% of my fuel up’s. I had used a combination of Power service grey bottle mostly & 2 stroke, and occasionally Lucas in my fuel.

Mmo is also great to run in the crankcase. I ran two quarts in my 12v cummins for an entire oil change and it made the truck start much quicker and made it the quietest 12v cummins I’ve heard.

I did exactly that procedure on a 240d mercedes using diesel purge, the process on the mb is a little simpler. And it helped.

Man, I hear ya. This stuff is amazing. I still add it in my fuel tank every other fill up to keep things lubricated, clean, and happy. I like to toss it in my crank case about 500 miles before the oil change to help break up all the carbon deposits. Works like a charm!

Great video man can't believe it hasn't popped up on my feed the past 2 years. I use this in my 92 12 valve, gonna replace the fuel filter here pretty soon and delete the pre heater above it. Just gonna fill the entire filter with MMO instead of diesel. I normally just run heating oil in her since it's 10 cents a gallon cheaper and readily available at some stations here in Pennsylvania.

It probably would be just good maintenance to dump A bottle or two in the tank of your diesel truck once a month as maintenance. Also add some marvel to the engine oil just before your regular oil change.

I have a 93 Chevy Silverado dually pickup with a 6.5 turbo diesel in it and I run Marvel Mystery Oil in it when I fuel it up a lot of times I just put 3 quarts in it when I put fuel in. hopefully it will keep everything nice and clean that's my goal anyway.

Heck yeah Tropher, I bet that old Detroit tank runs nice and smooth. I still run it in every tank of diesel fuel and even use it as a 2 cycle oil in my chainsaw to keep it happy. It's tried and true 👍

But this is my first diesel that only has 168000 miles on it runs like a top sounds good and I hope it stays that way. I don't believe that a person can use too much Marvel Mystery Oil. nice. next time run it for awhile at idle then do a high idle then shut it down and let her cool back down. basically doing a hot soak. then start it up and continue the idle and high idle then actually drive the truck running straight MMO and run her hard and get her hot. then shut her down to do another hot soak then continue the idle and high idle again and shut it down and reconnect everything back up.

Ah yeah, good call Green Queen Machine. Now that I know this old Duramax can run on straight MMO with ease I'll definitely give that a try next time, thanks for the suggestion. I just replaced the injectors with sac nozzle 45% over's so it may be a little bit before I run another purge but I'll keep this in mind when the time comes. Cheers 🍻

I hope it doesn't! It's been about a year now and so far so good 👍. Mmo is a combustible designed to use in diesel or gas tanks as well as crankcase. It's definitely thinner than motor oil. I wouldn't fill the engine up with this stuff but it makes for a good carbon softener if you run a quart for 500 miles or so before an oil change. Seems to burn pretty clean and smokeless when used as a purge/top half engine cleaner or fuel additive.

I was using it as a purge to clean the injectors. But essentially yes, the truck was running on pure MMO for this procedure.

Hello Jake, thank you for the question! My balance rates were within spec during this experiment before and after. I did this purge to both see what happen with MMO as well as to give the injectors a good cleaning before my overland trip. That said, when I'm working the truck hard through the mountains, injector 4 likes to stick open at usually -4. Now to get the injector unstuck I'll usually either throw some MMO in the tank or perform a purge with MMO because it seems to do the trick. I'll be replacing my injectors here pretty soon.

I did seafoam injector cleanse when I changed fuel filter. I upgraded to the big Cat filter. Put seafoam in fuel tank, warm engine, change filter, fill new filter with straight seafoam, start it up and run 10 min. Shut off and hot soak 15 min. Then start it up and drive hard for at least 1/2 HR. I don't know if that big filter will hold a gallon, but maybe I'll try that with Marvel next time. Seafoam just got stupid expensive. I'm thinking maybe Marvel will do better job anyway.

Heck yeah man, I've done pretty much that same procedure you mentioned with Seafoam and it works pretty good. Definitely a nice maintenance thing to do every fuel filter change. Your engine will love Marvel in the fuel tank when you give it a try. When you toss about a quart in the tank at fill up you'll notice the injectors quiet down and idle will smooth out a bit. How are you liking the CAT filter in the primary fuel filter housing? I just picked one up! Haven't installed it yet but I've been running the CAT fuel filter and the water separator in my FASS lift pump for the past few years so I figured I might as well convert the primary filter housing since I just put it back on for the extra fuel heater. Mmo is around 66% mineral oil and around 33% white mineral solvent. There is also an anti ware agent, a heat polymor and a carbon softener mixed in there. It provides more lubrication than diesel alone hence why the engine runs quiet and smooth when running a purge or when you add a quart to your fuel tank. It can also be ran in the crankcase pre oil change to help break down the carbon deposits and flush out your engine.

Thank you for the question! The Injectors occasionally would get stuck when I really put the boots to er' out in the mountains. For that I always carried this kit with me so I could perform an emergency purge to get things running smooth again. Last year I actually changed my injectors (SAC 45s), installed new gaskets, head studs, performed a mild port & polish on the heads, exhaust manifolds/ replaced driverside with BD Full Bore, port matched up pipes, installed upgraded down pipe (port & polished it), rebuilt the turbo (port/polished & installed upgraded compressor wheel) and now ole Pig runs like NEW! Hello 👋 MMO should be safe for your diesel tractor, it's a combustible lubricant. I've used it in my gas and diesel engines and gave even tossed it in the chainsaw as a 2 cycle oil.

@@KooshdaakaaGarage Thanks for the video. Have you ever tried B12 Chemtool #0116 Fuel system cleaner? It's some powerful stuff. B12 chemtool literally melts away carbon! It devarnished 20 yearold fuel injectors in my father's truck just from two cans added to his gas tank along with 30 yr old sludge from our tractor. But B12 is so powerful for a reason. It's methanol add pack can actually be too much for a car's tak should there be an accidental over treatment. So, atmost 2 cans of B12 every 5-6000 miles is safe. It brought his truck's fuel trims back to Zero! Also, I'm just starting to use MMO and it's a pretty good penetrating oil. The solvency must be pretty good for piston rings.

I've used it in gas engines for quite a few years alongside MMO. I haven't used B12in diesel engines yet. Have you used it on a diesel truck yet? How much did you add?
