Great video. Wish I saw it before I cleaned my bottom half. Was scared to open the top part. Did you have to calibrate anything?

I didn't, but maybe I should have. Ideally you'd have them bench tested after the fact and calibrated but in my case everything was okay.

Is it safe to solder under the valve covers worried about heat melting the solder

People have soldered them and and haven't had any problems that I am aware of. I have no personal experience soldering them but just be careful not to drop anything in the engine.
